Reflecting on a Costly Lesson from 2024 One of my most regrettable decisions in 2024 was partnering with Gartner to seek actionable consulting, strategic insights, and guidance to position my company on the global stage, enhance our network, and boost sales. As an MSME, I expected their expertise to provide value through uncovering emerging trends and driving tangible results. Unfortunately, despite a significant investment of both time and money, the experience fell far short of expectations. Beyond access to some PDF reports and a few calls with their analysts, there was little to no practical benefit. As a growing MSME, it’s disheartening to see such high fees yield no measurable impact or actionable outcomes. My takeaway? If you're an MSME looking for consulting services, think twice before investing in big-ticket names like Gartner. They may provide "insights" but, in my experience, fieldwork, real-world lessons, and hands-on networking deliver far greater value than generic guidance. The Competitive Environment focuses on understanding rivals, market positioning, and emerging threats or opportunities. 🏗️ Internal Environment Scanning: Value Chain Analysis helps identify key activities that add value to the business. The Resource-Based View (RBV) emphasizes leveraging internal resources and capabilities for a sustainable competitive edge.
