Vol. 2 of Spill the T (HC): Why Dispensaries are the Wrong Channel for THC Beverages The writing has been on the wall for a while, but here is a detailed perspective as to why THC beverages should continue to live outside the dispensary channel. Two important call outs: 1) No shade to any dispensaries carrying beverages, or any brands still operating in that channel. You are still an important part of this space! 2) There are always outliers. Uncle Arnie's and Keef Brands have still managed to crush it in the dispensary channel over the years. Major changes coming to Connecticut for the hemp beverage market, as HB 5150 was signed by Governor Lamont Saturday morning. A few highlights -3 MG per container cap - 12 oz minimum container size, max 4 containers per package -Ban on certain additives, including "psychotropic" additives and any additive that can "increase the potency, toxicity or addictive properties of the infused beverage," including caffeine (but excluding natural caffeine in chocolate) -Infused beverage manufacturer licensing requirements -Infused beverage labeling requirements and advertising restrictions - Ban on DTC e-commerce, mailing, and telephonic sales (!) - Retail licensure requirements - Tax imposition on retail, even for pre-existing inventory #thc #hempbeverages #hemp #cannabis #hemp #cannabislaw
