What lies at the source of mountains creation? Yes, you can admire the lands where the Armorican Massif developed over 300 million years ago, on a Geopark getaway in the Normandie-Maine Global Geopark in France. Just like many social bonds we have, the connection and collaboration between local residents, elected officials and associations allows the ecosystem to be preserved. For instance, this network allowed to restore 120 hectares of moorland and 10 hectares of peat bogs. Discover the UNESCO Global Geoparks, and how they are protecting the interrelation between nature, history and culture 👉 https://lnkd.in/epkHhYGc

Today, on the International Day of Monuments and Sites, we turn our focus to 'Disasters & Conflicts Through the Lens of the Venice Charter.' 🔍The day was first celebrated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1983. 🔍The Venice Charter is a set of guidelines, drawn up in 1964 by a group of conservation professionals in Venice, that provides an international framework for the conservation and restoration of historic buildings. Six decades later, we face a climate emergency, a growing number of natural disasters as well as conflicts destroying cultural sites and displacing communities on a massive scale. Let’s celebrate this special day to raise awareness about the diversity of cultural heritage and the efforts that are required to protect and conserve historical sites and monuments for future generations. #heritagemanagement #heritage #culturalheritagemanagement #culturalheritage #heritagenation #culture #heritagemanagementorganization #intangibleculturalheritage #unite4heritage #heritage4generations
