🌍 Planning a yachting trip to #Svalbard, Norway? Recent regulation changes require more preparation and advance permit applications - we recommend that you start at least 3 months before arrival to avoid delays. Key updates: - Private yachts: No changes in protected area access. - Charter yachts: Restrictions apply for ticketed passengers; full charters follow private yacht rules. - Fast ice: Rarely relevant for yachts. - Polar bears: A 300m retreat distance is required within 12nm of the coast, but this doesn’t apply in pack ice. This is great info! It would be great if you compiled a list of these types of regulations as an online researce similar to how the INTERNATIONAL WHALING COMMISSION has done for whale watching regulations in their handbook: https://wwhandbook.iwc.int/en/downloadable-resources/guidelines-and-regulations
