Dina Hudson, Senior Consultant (Disputes & Investigations), was recently featured in Law360 with an article exploring how corporate apologies are perceived across various courtroom cases and the public relations challenges that accompany them. "Publicly, apologies are often perceived as admissions of guilt, regardless of the legal protections offered. This perception can significantly impact an organization's reputation and influence the proceedings of a case, as stakeholders and the public may view an apology through a lens of culpability." 💻 should we upgrade an emergency measure to a standard process? 💻 ☺️ I’m all for streamlining and digitising processes, even if they take a while to get off the ground, and when the pandemic was at its peak, video signings provided a practical solution for those in our community who were most vulnerable - and those who weren’t! 🤔While COVID-19 is still a real threat, now that we are able to see each other in relative safety, is it necessary to advocate for the continuation of virtually signing of Wills? 🤯 Like Jade in the article, I wonder if we have had any time to see the potential consequences and pitfalls for such a procedure. 😶 A Will that has not been signed and witnessed correctly can have devastating consequences. 🖤 Perhaps remote signing should be put back on the shelf for now, so we can have the opportunity to closer examine the pro’s and con’s of this temporary measure when it matters most. 👀 Where do you stand on remote Will signings? Would you sign your Will with remote witnesses?
💡Video witnessing: January deadline looms The COVID-19 pandemic catalysed unprecedented changes in many fields, including the legal sector. A significant amendment to the Wills Act 1837 exemplifies this shift. These are wise words by Iain Miller. Healthy democracies are underpinned by a robust rule of law. This in turn means a strong, independent legal profession. Since 1997 the legal system has not only been drained of resources, it has also been slowly suffocated by over-regulation. The contradictions and inconsistencies of badly drawn legislation must not be allowed to impede the delivery of justice. #propertylawyersactiongroup

If there were no bad people, there would be no good lawyers The statement suggests a complex relationship between the existence of wrongdoing and the need for legal professionals. At its core, the statement highlights the role of adversity and conflict in the legal system, emphasizing that the presence of individuals engaging in illicit activities or causing harm is what necessitates the services of skilled and ethical attorneys. In a hypothetical world where everyone adhered strictly to the law and behaved ethically, there might be a diminished need for legal representation. The adversarial nature of legal systems often arises from disputes, conflicts, and instances of wrongdoing. In the absence of such behaviors, the demand for legal services, particularly those provided by adept and principled lawyers, might decrease significantly. However, it's essential to recognize the dual nature of this statement. On one hand, it underscores the idea that lawyers, particularly those considered "good," play a crucial role in upholding justice and ensuring that individuals who engage in unlawful activities are held accountable. On the other hand, it implies that the very existence of "bad people" is a prerequisite for the legal profession to thrive. Ultimately, this statement invites contemplation on the intricate interplay between morality, justice, and the legal system. It prompts us to consider how the complexities of human behavior and the challenges posed by unlawful actions contribute to the vitality of the legal profession and the pursuit of justice.

#Trust #Truth #Transparency #Unbiased #Just #NarcissistHacker #SelfAwareness It is of utmost urgency and obviously importance that the law upstands with moral leadership. Lets replace imposter leadership with REAL leadership, scarcity with abundance, hypocrisy and and controlling with integrity in values. 🙏🙏 #Testing #Quality #Value #Integrity #Audit #Traceability #Openness #Consideration #MoralLeadership Roy Holley #Inspiration "The Post Office lawyers are accused of having been complicit in a conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by ignoring perjury and in allowing subsequent dishonest witness statements to be put forward in evidence; failing to disclose documents relating to the endemic unreliability of the Horizon computer system and Fujitsu’s ability throughout to surreptitiously alter sub-postmasters’ financial records to show false discrepancies, then relied on as the basis for prosecutions." "Those investigations should be started now — if they are not already in train — and run contemporaneously and collaboratively where possible. In the meantime, there is a real risk that public confidence in the rule of law, the reliability of court processes and the integrity of lawyers in general has been undermined by widespread knowledge of what has been described “as the worst miscarriage of justice in British legal history”.
