This one might split the room: There are some perks that I just don't understand in the tech industry, and the humble food voucher is one of them. The question is - are software engineers so underpaid that they need food vouchers to feed themselves and their families? I doubt it. I think companies can do much better when it comes to benefits and creating a company culture that will not only attract people but retain them as well. If you really have money to burn, give it to charity or donate the food vouchers to people who need them. The yoga ball is another one - there's nothing worse than watching someone bouncing around on a bloody yoga ball! Things we DO care about at TechPods are: ✅ Healthcare for employees and their families ✅ Wellness/Fitness membership cards to keep people active ✅ Self development for career progression (books, online courses, certifications) ✅ Events - we like to attend events, and also create our own. Our own events create a platform for people to gain public talking experience (if they want to) ✅ Regular team building activities gives people a chance to socialise with colleagues outside of work on company money ✅ Football Team - we're yet to win a match in the IT league, but we will keep going! ✅ Hybrid working - work from the office whenever you want (office days are not fixed) Is there anything we can do to improve our culture and employee benefits? #TechPods #CoSourcing NOT #Outsourcing #Culture #EmployeeBenefits #EmployeeRetention

AI Operations Specialist || Salesforce Associate || Complex Problem Solver || Growth Catalyst || Lifelong Learner || I Help People and Businesses Simplify & Thrive Using AI and Automation
𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞 ⬇️ “𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵, 𝘨𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦. 𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘳, 𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳.” I’ve learned this lesson firsthand through my experiences with three incredible communities: alx_africa , Hugo, and Cohort 23 of Haoma’s 20-Day LinkedIn Challenge. These communities have three key things in common: 1️⃣ A commitment to delivering excellence, every single time. 2️⃣ Intentional personal growth investments that future you will thank you for. 3️⃣ Collaboration with like-minded individuals to achieve shared goals. Today, I want to emphasize the importance of 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. As someone who loves getting things done exactly as envisioned, I used to struggle with the idea of working alongside others. It felt like “extra work” when ALX encouraged us to visit hubs weekly. But then I realized that being around others facing the same challenges provided invaluable insights I couldn't gain alone. This lesson became a game-changer when I transitioned into remote work at Hugo. Instead of seeing office visits as a burden, I now cherish those moments of connection. They remind me to ask for help sooner, rather than spending time trying to figure everything out on my own. Let’s not forget my journey with Haoma’s 20-Day LinkedIn Challenge. Last year, I didn’t fully embrace the community aspect and missed out on so much. This time, I'm actively participating, sharing, and learning. It’s a reminder of how different things could have been if I had engaged more previously. 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝: Growth isn’t just about the work you put in alone, it’s about the community you build and collaborate with along the way. Humans are social beings. We were never meant to do life alone. Even in this digital age, nothing can replace the power of real human connection. So, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥? 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭. 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞. 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍! Business + Mindset Mentor to Moms who are Looking to Transition their Multitasking Superpowers into a Successful Virtual Assistant Business!🦸♀️
Oooooo this was a touchy subject for me last night on the news😬 In a friendly debate between 2 men🙄, they discussed whether or not employees have the “right to disconnect” from their work email during certain times. To be clear, my answer is unwaveringly YES—I don’t give a hoot whether you’re a freelancer or a W2’d employee, you have the right to disconnect + frankly I’m not even sure how this is a question. 🙅🏼♀️ One man’s argument was if you want to move up, you need to show that you’re “committed to the mission”. This is a dangerous mentality to have. (And why time boundaries as a freelancer are so incredibly necessary.) Some women are already working as much as they can, taking care of the household + kids, carrying the mental load, etc. And now you want to back them into a corner so they have to be available 24/7 for work to prove they’re committed to the company and to growing!? No sir. EVERYONE deserves time away from work, time with their families and time to themselves to recharge. Or no, they won’t be able to commit to the mission because they’ll be burnt out. All the more reason to #beyourownboss and get your #virtualassistantbusiness off the ground! (Ahem.. with my 10 Day to VA Bootcamp that starts at the end of April you can have it up and running and be taking clients + makin’ 💰 before summer—link in bio if you’re interested!) 🌟 Curious to know your thoughts on this—drop them in the comments!🫶🏻 #mompreneur #workfromhomemoms #wfhmlife #virtualassistantmom #virtualassistantmentor #workingmomstruggle #freelancingfemales #ambitiousmom #wfhmom #careerandfamily #virtualassistants #vainstagram #vabusiness #vacommunity #bossmom #momssupportingmoms #momsinbusiness

Opening 2024 like... 💅 Let's chat Goal setting 💫 I sat down on the 31st of December to my goals for the upcoming year as I do every year, this year I want to focus on: - building a larger community of like-minded people - post more consistently on my social platforms - avoid the burn out when it comes to my own sense of achievement - focus on my career and where I want to take it in the future - learn how to use TikTok (any advice accepted) 🤣 This year instead of writing down goals with no actionable or measurable metric similar to what I've done in previous years, I was going to break them down into smaller, easier goals. This year is a marathon, not a sprint! By making these big audacious goals smaller over a short space of time, I can make them feel more achievable and have that sense of productivity and accomplishment. Last year I would get bunked down on how these big goals would be a reality, and how they were so hard to achieve. I would push myself so hard and get nowhere because I got stuck in the overwhelm. If you're like me, this year let's try to break them down into monthly, quarter or half-yearly goals so it feels like we are achieving something. 2024 is a fresh start, a new mindset and what happens this year is all up to you and what you put into it. You'll be seeing my content a little more this year on Linkedin, TikTok and Instagram. Helping brands boost their ROAS with impactful cross-channel paid media strategies | ex-Ticketmaster | ex-PHD Media | AI Enthusiast | Photographer
How do you stay motivated when things aren’t going as planned? How would you describe the current economic situation? 🤷♀️ Last week, despite not having the number of clients I’d like right now, I chose to take a break and spend time in La Gomera. Yes, I had my laptop and iPad with me for calls and work, but I also soaked in the sun, hiked through stunning landscapes and enjoyed incredible food 😋 If you haven’t been before, La Gomera is a hidden gem. Unlike Tenerife or Gran Canaria, it’s much less touristy, making it a peaceful retreat 🏔️ ☺️ Even in a challenging season, like the famine state many of us face, with tough client acquisition, budget cuts and a difficult employment landscape, it's crucial to look after yourself. Taking a break, even a small one, can be so beneficial 🙂 If you're feeling overwhelmed, remember these three things: 🟣 You are not alone – Many people are going through the same struggles. The power of community is incredible; you just need to ask for help. 🟣 Rest fuels productivity – Taking time to recharge helps you perform better when you return to work. 🟣 Opportunities will come – Tough times pass and persistence, combined with self-care, keeps you ready for the next opportunity. I’ve met so many lovely people over the past few months and the support networks out there are truly amazing. I’m part of some fantastic communities like Up World, The Workstyle Revolution, YunoJuno, Women in Experimentation, B2B Supper Club, and Women in Tech SEO - people are more than happy to help. I have two lovely mentors whom I wanted to give a shoutout to: Orwell McGubbins (freelance designer) and Harri Vivian (B2B expert) 🩵 Reach out to me or someone who you feel comfortable with if you want to chat, take breaks and stay hopeful 💪 #community #selfcare #support
