3 Things I've Learned The Last 1.5 Years Since I've Been In Med Device Sales: 1. If you stay ready, you never have to get ready. I think this can apply to having product on hand at all times just in case, staying up to date on product knowledge and research, and staying on top of daily tasks. I overheard 2 nurses the other day in the OR asking if they should call a rep to see if they had product in the car. They turned and looked at me randomly. I told them, if they're a rep, they most likely live with product in their car for times like this! 2. Building Relationships is Key. It takes many good conversations to build a bridge, and only one bad one to burn it down. Take the time to reflect on your conversations, go forth with honesty and integrity, and never lie! If you don't know something, tell them you will find out the right information for them and get back to them. 3. Stressful days come and go and are present in any job or profession. It's your choice to decide whether or not you let it affect you and your job duties. At these times, you always have your team to lean on as well. I find that the number of good days outweighs the bad, and it's a blessing every single day to wake up and have the career that myself and many of you have! What's something you've learned since being in medical device sales? #medicaldevice #medicaldevicesales #meddevice #salescareer #stressmanagement #prepareforsuccess

9 things I’d do every Saturday if I was looking to land first medical sales job: 1. Walk/get sunlight. 2. Hit coffee shop, grab a dirty matcha to get in flow state. 3. On YouTube, research: procedures and products I’d be covering, what physicians are saying about the products, top 2-3 competitive products and what drs are saying about them, what’s new in a particular disease state like Rotator cuff repair. 4. On YouTube, study a sales process like Sandler. 5. Get all these notes onto a PowerPoint 6. Get on LinkedIn “Jobs Tab”, type in “associate sales representative” and my city, then message reps in each of those cities who have openings to ask for a 5-min phone call. 7. After a couple hours, get some exercise in. 8. Read 1-3 chapters of your sales book of choice. 9. Relax and wind down in evening with no phone or stress. Repeat Sunday. You’ve got this!!

Entry level medical sales roles are most often not entry level sales roles. An entry level sales role is at a large Fortune 500 company selling B2B. You can find these on google by searching “Selling Power’s Top 50”. Entry level MEDICAL sales roles are most often “Associate Sales Representatives” or TM positions that require 6-12 months of sales experience and is your “entry” to the medical sales world. I notice some people looking for device roles get frustrated on here saying that nobody will give them a shot, not knowing that med device sales isn’t an entry level sales job. Guarantee yourself a med device role by getting entry level sales experience for 6-12 months and becoming a top candidate applying for an ASR position. OR: Take a breath, realize you’re going after a position that requires more experience than you have, and increase your sales and presentation skills, network more, and prepare more than any other candidate going for that ASR position who has sales experience. Stay positive, hungry, and curious! Good luck!
