Roots and Faces, 2018, solo exhibition inspired by Family reminiscences: The 'Roots and Faces' exhibition, inspired by family reminiscences, likely explores themes of identity, heritage, and personal history. These elements can evoke emotional connections and reflections on familial bonds, contributing to the depth and meaning of the artwork displayed. Tree forms are powerful metaphors in art, symbolizing how individuals connect to their families. 𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐃𝐎 𝐖𝐄 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐄𝐎𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐔𝐌𝐒? I visited two big exhibitions this summer, and I was surprised by what I found. Art and Architectural Historian with a main focus on African and Global Arts and a keen interest in civic matters locally in Cambridge, MA.
Nice shout out in the local newspaper, Cambridge Day, for my exhibition, "Picasso: War, Combat and Revolution" that opens today at the Harvard Art Museum. Timely? Yes! Fascism concerns today ? Yes! Bombing of innocents today. Yes! The importance of artists and artists especially today to address these horrors! Yes! The exhibition will be up through May. Text below reads: the "... exhibit explores key themes of Guernica, the dictator Franco, broader imagery of death, symbolic struggles of good and evil, revolution of various types and issues, and issues of desire and capture."

I love untangling collection histories to find and share stories | Knowledge Sharing | Rethinking Cataloguing | Preservation and Collections Management
Looking forward to discussion around people’s thoughts, questions and experiences at this #RethinkingCataloguing session next week!
📢 There's still time to book onto this #RethinkingCataloguing discussion with Sian Woodward, which will focus on cataloguing in the context of institutional memory (or forgetfulness). ✍ What is institutional memory and where is it found inside or outside your organisation – e.g. history books, Wikipedia pages, trustee minutes, exhibition files, staff memories? How can it help us understand collections and catalogue them better? How does institutional forgetfulness, for example as staff leave, impact this? What can we do to address these issues in the future? Join us to discuss these questions. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e53u22A5 #Museums #MuseumDocumentation #Event
