We all know that extracurricular activities can enhance a student’s school experience. But for neurodivergent students, extracurricular activities are often another place where they feel excluded. While many neurodivergent students enjoy popular extracurriculars like sports and music, you can increase their sense of belonging by creating clubs for a wide variety of special interests. Here are a few less-common ideas for school clubs: - Science Fiction Book Club - LEGO Robotics - Craft Club - Gardening - Gaming - Anime Not only will these less-common club ideas show your students that you value their interests, but they can also boost their confidence and sense of belonging by connecting them with peers who share similar passions. What are some other less-common clubs to add to the list?

From Struggle to Success: How We Revamped our STEAM Program (and the EdTech Tool that Helped!) During my tenure as a Business Development Manager at EDforTech, I have been fortunate to develop partnerships with some amazing people! One example is the partnership with Darron Lamkin, owner and operator of the non-profit group Class Matters Inc in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. EDforTech has provided Class Matters Inc with Codey Rocky robots, mBot Explorer kits, as well as mBot 2 kits to support their dedication to building STEM literacy across both male and female youth. They are using this cutting edge 21st Century technology to engage and empower youth, while also lessening the achievement gap. Their work has fostered collaboration among students and teachers, resulting in a significant increase in student engagement and problem solving, and has led to a more positive learning environment. Call to action: Have you encountered challenges in implementing a successful STEAM program? Let's connect and discuss how EDforTech can support your desires to build student engagement, lessen your achievement gap, and bring fun back into the classroom!

The vast majority of calls for more and better STEM education are so boring, they achieve the diametrically opposite. They just reinforce that STEM is dry, boring and lacks everything human. I have to congratulate the LEGO Group for breaking that awful trend with their latest Milky Way set. It's solid - pun intended - proof that STEM is fun, creative and about as artistic as you want it to be. You can read all about it in my latest free article on Medium: https://lnkd.in/e4-qqXpe
