Sarytogan Graphite Limited (ASX:SGA) managing director Sean Gregory sits down with Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio to discuss recent results from geotechnical drilling at the Sarytogan #graphite deposit in central Kazakhstan. The company reported several significant intercepts of greater than 40% total graphitic carbon (TGC) and two individual assays higher than an “extraordinary” 50% TGC. The eight holes drilled last year, totalled 471.3 metres, with high-grade graphite mineralisation reported in 92% of all metres drilled. Gregory also discusses how these results will contribute to the upcoming pre-feasibility study and provides an update on ongoing battery testing, following successful maiden battery results on Sarytogan uncoated spherical purified graphite (USPG) that delivered superior performance to many Chinese synthetic graphites used in lithium-ion batteries. Next week, we're excited to welcome Frank Zamora, Senior Vice President, Operations at Premier Corex who will be sharing a presentation on: Hypothesis on the formation of Gummy Bears aka Shmoo, Goo… Polyacrylamide is widely used in hydraulic fracturing due to its properties as a viscosity enhancer and friction reducer. This presentation aims to evaluate polyacrylamide flowback through a combination of solubility tests, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The solubility test assesses the degree of degradation and recovery of PAM by observing its dissolution in various solvents. Variations in solubility reflect changes in the polymer's chemical structure. FTIR analysis is employed to detect changes in the chemical structure of PAM by identifying characteristic functional groups before and after flowback. XRD is used to investigate the crystalline structure of residual minerals or additives in the flowback fluid that may interact with PAM. This characterization allows for the assessment of possible contamination or changes in the polymer's crystallinity, which could impact its performance and flowback efficiency. By integrating these methods, this presentation provides a comprehensive understanding of the degradation behavior, structural changes, and potential contaminants affecting polyacrylamide flowback. The findings contribute to the optimization of flowback treatment and PAM recovery strategies, ultimately enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of hydraulic fracturing operations.
