At Cadence, we're advocating for a shift in language from "remote patient monitoring" to "remote patient care." This reflects a high-quality approach to care delivery– healthcare teams providing continuous patient management, not just tracking metrics. Shifting from symptom tracking to proactive care that ensures patients, particularly those with chronic conditions, receive the attention they need over time. We’re witnessing an exciting transformation in the healthcare industry, and Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) is leading the charge. This innovative approach allows healthcare providers to keep an eye on patients outside of traditional clinical settings, which not only improves patient outcomes but also reduces hospital readmissions—especially for those dealing with chronic conditions. It’s empowering patients to take control of their health and promoting greater independence. As we embrace these advancements, it’s important to have open conversations about their effectiveness and the role of technology in patient care. By finding the right balance between innovation and ethical practices, we can ensure that everyone in the healthcare ecosystem benefits from these positive changes. Remote Patient Monitoring is being adopted by hospitals across the country. Why you might ask? Most hospitals today are integrated networks with both inpatient, ACSs and network providers in offices seeing patients. The goal of RPM is to engage and empower patients in the management of their disease states, with real time monitoring. As patients are engaged with monitoring, health quality should improve, costs should decrease as disease states are slowed from progressing and readmits are greatly decreased. This increases quality measures, quality payments from CMS and health insurance companies while improving patient satisfaction and outcomes.
