Experienced Education Leader & Special Education Consultant | Enhancing Learning for All Students | Empowering Through Consultation
FICTION SPED is not a place that students go. Special Education is a series of programs and/or supports that students receive based on what they need to be academically successful within academic settings. SPED is not in a dark room in the basement. SPED is not where we close the door and hope for the best. In fact, if you go into the majority of classrooms and schools, I doubt that you will be able to tell who receives special education services and who does not. And that’s the point! Juniors, it's time to work on your college list. I advise four categories of schools: 1. Foundation schools - assured academic and financial fit 2. Match schools - good academic match, based on class rank, gpa and test score with predicted financial aid support 3. Reach schools - schools where the student's admissions chances and/or financial fit are uncertain, based on the student's academic profile 4. Pinnacle schools - schools where students have unpredictable admissions or financial aid chances, based on the selectivity of the school This $399.99 limited-time special will help your student develop a list of ten colleges - from foundation through pinnacle. There is a recently released solicitation from the Dept. of Education that targets support for Veterans. Navigating the Dept. of Ed’s site for all the relevant information can be challenging. So I wanted to point interested potential PIs to 3 pages, that together, give you information you need to get started on your project proposal planning. The first link is here, the second two links are in the comments. The program is called “Centers of Excellence for Veteran Student Success”: on the link to that page you can read about the program in general. Don’t be confused by the little box that says solicitations are due in 2022. To see the information about the current iteration of the solicitation, you can read the recent announcement in the Federal Register. The details you need to know to be competitive are contained therein. Try not to be put off by the rough and ready basic text formatting in Courier 10 pt. Font. When you are ready to apply, go to my third link, gather the relevant documents, and apply! https://lnkd.in/guJUZieq
