Cadwalader was proud to support the Second Annual Diversity in Fund Finance Summer Soiree: Suits & Soju! The event was bustling with networking, delicious Korean tapas and tarot card readings. In celebration of Pride month, the event featured a raffle to benefit The Trevor Project, which is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ+ young people. Thank you to all who joined and for your generous donations and thanks to event organizers Natasha Puri, CPA and Fiona Cheng and our co-sponsors Lloyds Bank North America and Fried Frank!

Founder of Flying Cars Innovation | We help charity fundraisers build brilliant new campaigns that raise £millions 🌈
Welcome to Day 5 of the Flying Cars fundraising inspiration Smörgåsbord! It has been a super tough year for fundraisers and charities. But a lot of fantastic work has been created. So, every day in December I will highlight a different brilliant campaign to celebrate. 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 😎 ⬇️ __________________ Day 5 we are moving into the world of lottery. Specifically the Rainbow Lottery. It's the first lottery that exclusively supports LGBTQ+ good causes. And players can choose which causes to support. The brainchild of Tom Gattos + David Murray this product has a really clear and simple proposition. 'I want to play a lottery' + 'I want to support LGBTQ+ causes'. This is the kind of offer that really cuts through - there is a very clear audience and product. Lots of organisations are signed up - big & small - and we can only see this going from strength to strength in the coming years. 🌈 #fundraising #innovation

In honor of #pridemonth2024, I wanted to share some relevant financial and estate planning guidance throughout the month: 25. Plan for charitable giving. Some LGBTQ individuals and families may have smaller chosen families for future gifting and legacy transfers. These individuals and families may want to consider using annual gifting strategies, donor advised funds, charitable remainder or lead trusts, or other charitable vehicles to transfer money to charities that support their values and lived experiences. It is important, as advisors, not to make assumptions and to lead potentially with values-oriented and legacy-focused conversations. #legacy. #LGBTQ. #charitablegiving. #chosenfamily.

Update on Joy’s Health We want to share an update on Joy, a trans girl who was attacked alongside her friend Ray while at church. Ray's condition has significantly improved and continues to get better each day. However, while Joy’s health is in a slightly better place, she still experiences a lot of pain. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our donors and friends who helped us get Joy to the hospital. Without your support, her story could have been very different. We are still in need of financial assistance to pay for Joy’s ongoing hospital bills and to maintain our shelter, which houses 50 LGBTQ persons. Operating an LGBTQ shelter in a hostile environment with very limited financial resources presents constant challenges. Your continued support is crucial for us to provide a safe haven for those who need it most. Please consider donating to help us keep the shelter running and ensure that Joy receives the care she needs. More ProPublica reporting on the blend of #charities and #politics. Ziklag (legal name Usatransform EIN: 82-4819179) is a public charity and “private, confidential, invitation-only community of high-net-worth Christian families.” Its goals are to fund election integrity groups, use churches to get out the vote, and galvanize voters on "issues of “parental rights” and opposition to transgender rights and policies supporting health care for trans people." https://lnkd.in/ehhqKHWb

Did you know that with every event ticket you purchase from Sesh Coworking the proceeds go directly supporting local non-profits, community organizations and businesses for women, communities of color and the LGBTQ+ community through providing them space??? Why do these organizations need complimentary or discounted space? Because often times the funding they receive from grants or the government is restricted to hiring, wages, or equipment. Not very often does it provide funding for space to hold board meetings, community gatherings, workshops or volunteer events. https://lnkd.in/g2_uuBtU

🌈 We are extremely proud to have been partnered with Pret A Manger for nearly a decade! ☕ As the UK’s only LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity, we understand the importance of Pride for businesses. More than half of our corporate donations are made during Pride season. At akt, we are extremely grateful to receive donations during Pride. For us, it is a natural time to partner with corporations and launch activations at a time when they are more likely to grab customer and staff attention alike. However, as proud members of the LGBTQ+ community we are also rightfully wary of disingenuous connection, which can ultimately do more harm for our community than good. That is why we are passionate about collaborating with corporate partners who are committed to LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality internally, and who are seeking to build Pride campaigns that go beyond a social media post. One of our fantastic partners is The Pret Foundation. The Pret Foundation have remained consistent in their engagement and authentic support of akt, having partnered with our charity since 2015. As part of our partnership this year, Pret has offered its donation terminals to akt so its customers can ‘tap to donate’ directly to us in their shops during June and July. Additionally, a percentage of Pret’s Love Bar sales will be donated to akt in July. Donations help to provide emergency support and ‘Rainbow Starter Packs’ for young people who are starting out on their own. These packs ensure young people thrive in their new homes – providing funds for furniture, a deposit and other key essentials. Pret also holds a strong internal commitment to diversity and inclusion, recently launching its Diversity, Equity and Belonging groups. Clare Clough, UK Managing Director at Pret A Manger, says: “Together with The Pret Foundation, we are proudly partnered with akt to support LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness. Over the past eight years, we’ve awarded grants to support young people. This partnership aligns with our commitment to creating an inclusive environment for our customers and employees. At Pret, we believe everyone deserves a safe space to belong, whether in our shops or support centre. Join us this Pride in supporting akt and the important work they do.” 🔗This pride, you could help us save a LGBTQ+ young person’s life. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eMzqYMCF

Most couples can benefit from estate planning to ensure that their assets land in the right hands after they pass and their health care wishes are followed. Reposting this important update: Eleven years ago, Brandon Zelasko faced rejection when trying to donate blood due to his sexual orientation. After a similar experience following the Club Q shooting in 2022, it’s encouraging to see the FDA finally lift the ban on gay men donating blood. Now, the challenge is for blood donation organizations to rebuild trust with the #LGBTQ community and effectively engage new donors. Brandon shares three key #marketing and #communications strategies in Health Affairs. Check out the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gpTsXTVN
