Technician training & competence are critical. This is NOT just a tick & flick exercise. We operate in the real work, in the high risk agricultural industry where fire is a real chance, every day! Our people know this is important & we come across examples like this every day. The standards & inspection checklist have been created for a reason. It’s essential they are followed otherwise what is the point in having this first attack portable fire equipment readily available if it’s not operational. #firesafety #firetraining #firesafetyequipment #assuringasafercommunity

Most people working directly in the Offshore industry are, or have been, regularly trained in elements of emergency "first response"... from basic first aid, to self rescue to firefighting. Its always disappointing to read of major players in the offshore industry failing safety inspections for inadequately maintained emergency response equipment and infrastructure as this equipment can be the difference of life and death. An interesting read this morning, highlighting the importance not just on the training around practical firefighting and rescue techniques but also the key requirement for quick and measured decision making around whether to try to tackle the fire OR muster and evacuate from the offset... #safety #firstresponse #fire #oilandgas
WATCH: 'There is no backup’ for offshore firefighters

Technical Support and Training Specialist in Blasting, Explosives, Security, and OHS for Small-Scale Mining.
It is important to remember that a rescue plan is only effective if it is regularly reviewed and updated as necessary. All employees who are likely to enter confined spaces should be trained on the rescue plan and the procedures to follow in case of an emergency. Rescue Safety Rules: 1.Don't proceed without proper PPE, equipment, personnel, and training. 2. Make sure the confined space has been isolated. 2.Use SCBA/SAR if not certain the atmosphere is safe. 4.Do not use power equipment for human loads. 5.Attendant never enters the space unless first relieved by another attendant. 6.Have back-up rescue personnel available. 7.Don't risk a life for a body recovery. Weigh risk vs. benefit. 8.Entry rescue team personnel requireme 0n is about seven people.
