Random Advice You Shouldn’t Take or Know About… There are too many companies offering products that share the same features, you cannot win in such a market until you prioritise user experience, and get the right team where design leads actual advocate for users and understand how to measure their own matrics/design impact or even better hire product managers that have a design background and see how much impact they make.

As a user experience designer, I have been exploring the options for a product manager role for some time. However, I have observed that coding experience has become a key requirement for many product management positions. While I have collaborated with tech teams and have a basic understanding of coding, I find it a little disconcerting that coding is being emphasized so much in a career that is often advertised as a no-code option. I believe that my technical skills, combined with my knowledge of product management, make me a strong candidate for the role. #problemsolving #productdesign #productmanagement #productmanager #recruitment #userexperience #hiring #hiringproductmanagers

If you are a product manager OR an aspiring product manager, 👇 One of my advice to you would be “Learn basic design Skills!” Why? It's like a bilingual superpower 💪 Understand design language to -> -> Communicate effortlessly with your design team. -> Mediate better between engineering & design. -> Better stakeholder alignment using designs over PRD. "Basically learning basic design ensures your product is not just functional but.... Delightful & delightful are the product which coverts and retains!" #customerexperience #productmanagement #productmanager #productivité #productdesigner #productinnovation #design #customersatisfaction #applynow #applytoday #productdevelopment

That is a lot of balls to juggle. It seems these skill sets rely heavily on data driven decisions and collaboration to ensure the strategic vision aligns with company goals. Have you considered how a modern APIm strategy is foundational for these 5 skills sets to be carried out? 1. Analytics - The ability to evaluate success starts with usage. Your products, services, and applications have to be discoverable and reuseable. This will allow the business to make data driven decisions 2. Lower Cost - Having this data will lead to better use of finite resources. Decrease cost through cross team collaboration. Making sure APIs can be discovered and reused so solutions that exist are not recreated. 3. Increase Productivity - Engineering teams can automate authentication, authorization, role-based access, rate limiting and more 4. Increase Revenue - Create a digital marketplace of products & services that your customers, partners, 3rd parties, and other developers can subscribe to.

Your next product manager might be… a designer? In smaller teams, multi-skilled hires are a huge advantage. It means people can jump fluidly between 2+ “roles” to fill in gaps and move faster. As someone who’s moved between design & PM, having both collapsed into one role at OpTech.ai has meant iteration cycles between product and design are instant. Write the docs → design the thing. In my product design agency, I also hired for specific combinations of designers with great client management, or product managers with exceptional ability to go from vague brief to wireframe. Where have you seen this to be the most effective in your teams? (Repost, previous one got deleted somehow...)

Sr Technical Product Manager | Spatial AI & Computer Vision Platform @AiFi | Making AI perceive and interact with the physical world
Many aspiring product managers ask me where to focus to start developing their product skills. Roughly, there are 3 key areas; 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆. But I think there is a misconception about the importance and weight of each of these areas. 👉 The mission of a product manager is to align 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 objectives with 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 opportunities and to capture the value of those opportunities by delivering 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 products to the market. So aspiring product managers should (in my opinion) prioritize: 1) The business (strategy, market research, MKT, finance, operations ... ) 2) The customer (UX design) 3) The technology (system design) Of course, it takes a lot of other knowledge and skills to succeed as a PM, but this could be a good start. 🙂 #productmanagement #aspiringpm #productskills

Exciting Career Transition: From Graphic Design to Product Management I'm thrilled to share a significant milestone in my professional journey—I am transitioning from my role as a Graphic Designer to becoming a Product Manager! Major thanks to PM School , Priyal Laddha . Over the past 1 year as a Graphic Designer, I’ve honed my skills in visual storytelling, and creative problem-solving. Crafting compelling visuals has been both rewarding and instrumental in shaping my career. However, as I delved deeper into the projects I worked on, I found myself increasingly drawn to the strategic aspects of Product Development and Management. This transition isn't just a shift in job titles but a culmination of my growing passion for understanding user needs, driving product vision, and collaborating across diverse teams to deliver meaningful solutions. My background in design has provided me with a unique perspective on user-centric product development, and I’m eager to leverage this in my new role as a Product Manager. In this new chapter, I aim to: Lead cross-functional teams to bring innovative products to market. Utilize data-driven insights to inform product strategy and decision-making. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and agile methodologies. Enhance user experience through thoughtful product design and functionality. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had in the design field and for all the mentors and colleagues who have supported me along the way. As I step into Product Management, I look forward to new challenges and opportunities to make a larger impact. If you’re in the Product Management space, I’d love to connect and hear about your experiences and insights. Here’s to new beginnings and driving innovation forward! #CareerTransition #ProductManagement #GraphicDesign #UserExperience #NewBeginnings
