I had the pleasure of attending the EU Cross Programme Workshop on Industrial Carbon Management hosted by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. The Workshop looked at a number of CO2 projects supported by the three main EU funding programmes including the European Union ETS Innovation Fund. It aimed to connect and engage the research community and industry covering the whole CO2 value chain – CO2 capture, utilisation, CO2 transport networks and geological storage. It turned out to be a fascinating discussion with presentations from 5 Projects that had received funding from the EU. It became clear how important this funding was in supporting the development of these first, innovative carbon management projects. It also highlighted the challenges in trying to decarbonise and develop a viable commercial carbon management industry. O.C.O Technology Ltd’s joint project with Petronar SA and Alba Emissions Free Energy SA is privileged to have received funding from the European Union ETS Innovation Fund. Although not on a scale as some of the projects that presented at the Workshop, our project will see the construction and operation in Bilbao, Spain, of the first facility using O.C.O’s patented ACT technology outside of the UK. The funding our project has received from the European Union ETS Innovation Fund has allowed us to accelerate and deliver the benefits of using O.C.O’s patented ACT technology to capture carbon and support the reduction of green house gases much earlier than would otherwise have been possible. #InnovationFund #eufunded #europeancommission #carboncapture #sustainability #recycle

🌍 As the business week comes to a close, I want to take a moment for a personal reminder about the impactful French-Norwegian CCS matchmaking event I attended in Paris and Dunkerque this week. 🌍 The discussions and connections made at this event highlighted the critical role of Carbon Capture and Storage in our evolving energy transition. CCS isn't just a technological solution; it's a cornerstone for a sustainable future. Reflecting on the event, I was genuinely moved by the power of collaboration. Seeing countries, regulators, and industrial leaders come together with a shared vision was inspiring. It’s clear that our collective efforts are essential for driving innovation and implementing the strategies needed to make CCS a reality. On a personal note, the exchange of ideas and experiences was incredibly enriching. It reaffirmed my belief in the importance of international cooperation and the pivotal role each stakeholder plays in addressing climate change. While political and economic challenges are still ahead of us, I remain optimistic about our end goal. Together, we can overcome these obstacles and make significant strides in the fight against climate change. Eliis is committed to helping solve the challenges associated with #CO2 storage. The H2eart for Europe initiative has announced a pioneering pledge to expedite the decarbonisation of the European energy system This initiative commits to deploying underground hydrogen storage (UHS) technology, aiming to pave the way for a sustainable energy future in line with the EU’s 2050 targets and intermediary milestones. H2eart for Europe operates as a collective force with a shared vision. The focus is steadfast on delivering the required storage infrastructure to fulfil RePowerEU and other climate targets by 2030 and beyond. Just got back from the Rotterdam H2 Summit, and it was fantastic! 📌 It was a great opportunity to meet industry leaders and learn about the latest developments in hydrogen field from around the world. The insights shared were inspiring. One major topic discussed in every table and corner was the current downstream demand. There's still a noticeable lack of appetite from the industry for green or low-carbon hydrogen, largely due to insufficient incentives. Many companies are hesitant to switch without more robust support and economic benefits. Another topic widely discussed was the role of governments in this transition. From building common infrastructure to streamlining permit processing times and creating/updating regulations, their involvement is key. Effective government action can make a significant difference in accelerating the adoption of low carbon hydrogen. Huge thanks to the organizers for their incredible efforts in bringing everyone together and for curating such comprehensive panels. The topics covered every aspect of the H2 economy value chain, providing a well-rounded perspective on where we are and what’s next. Finally, the best part? Getting to meet and shake hands with people we've only seen on screens for the past few months.
