If you are a parent needing accessible and affordable child care, an employer needing employees, or a child care professional needing to earn what you are worth "Become an Advocate!" See Child Care Aware's post to learn more about the way to do it.
Today marks the end of critical funding made available specifically for child care under the American Rescue Plan Act. That means we may see changes to states’ subsidy programs that limits family access to child care, including returning to pre-pandemic eligibility and family copayment policies, as well as maintaining a waitlist for new applicants. Your voice matters. Stay up to date with the latest information and resources by becoming an advocate with Child Care Aware of America. https://hubs.li/Q02RxktV0

As a new mom, I am thinking about what books I am buying, how I am talking to my child, and especially how I will teach them to stand up for justice. In aged care, we witness firsthand the importance of connection and community. Whether it's our residents, staff, or volunteers, we all face challenges, both seen and unseen. At Abound Communities, we’re committed to creating a caring environment where everyone feels supported. A small act of kindness, like checking in with a colleague or resident, can make a world of difference to someone who may be struggling. We encourage everyone, especially those working in caregiving roles, to take a moment today to ask “R U OK?”. While R U OK? Day is a great reminder, asking “R U OK?” any day of the year encourages us to check in with eachother anytime, because meaningful conversations and support should never be limited to just one day. Let’s continue to work towards building compassionate and supportive communities in aged care, where no one feels alone. For tips on how to start these vital conversations, visit ruok.org.au.
