It is not Wednesday but we still have a wargame to showcase this week. “Of War and Men: WWII ” by Neverhavyn games is a World War II based, squad level card game that does not only focus on tactics and strategy but allows you to build your team based on individual strengths and weaknesses of the characters. As you navigate the terrain in each of the missions, you are not just sending a nameless soldier into battle, you are sending your men and women into battle. Each player can choose characters with unique abilities, complete with ranks, names, and characteristics that allow you to build your team based on the mission requirements. Unique game features like individual soldier strengths and weaknesses, weapon malfunctions, and covering fire systems contribute to the “Fog of War.” Formal Learning Centers can take advantage of the unique dynamics of this game to reinforce talent management and decision making at the tactical level. Week 25 Challenge - “Reinforcements” This mode of gameplay, both players choose any 8 game pieces to begin with. Every 5th round they receive an additional 8 game pieces of their choosing. Victory is achieved when a player eliminates all opposing game pieces from the board. If this happens before reinforcements arrive then that player achieves victory early. Setup: Arrange 4 game boards in a 2 x 2. Next, place 8 obstacle game pieces as shown in the photo - this establishes the assembly areas for each players’ game pieces. *Optional: the players may divide the remaining obstacle game pieces and take turns placing them in the game area. Lastly, each player chooses 8 of their 48 game pieces to begin with and places them in their respective assembly areas. All other rules remain in effect. Week 9 Challenge: “Four Way Death Match.” *This game mode is intended to be played with 4 players on four game boards as shown* Setup-each player gets one rifle squad and one machine gun team. They are then assigned one of the four color sides as their color and are designated one of the game boards as their starting assembly area. Each player then arranges his/her own game pieces along with 5 obstacles in any arrangement on their designated board. All other rules are the same. The player will still use game pieces remaining on the board after all others are eliminated wins. Note:to keep track of which game pieces have been used, players will not flip over the game pieces, but instead rotate the directional arrows.
