💥 EXCLUSIVE PROFILE No. 7: Thanks to Redpath Partners, Shopping Centre News Australia (SCN) is sharing the seventh of 9 exclusive profiles of some fabulous trailblazing women in property who are paving the way for the future generation in our dynamic industry for everyone to enjoy. 💎 We hope you find inspiration in this profile on Kirrily Lord, Group Director, Customer and Asset Management Manager, Vicinity Centres. 🎤 SCN: Best piece of advice you've received? 💡 Kirrily: The best advice I’ve received was from an old boss of mine who was an executive leader himself. He said to always lead with empathy and authenticity – he encouraged me to find the value in all people, even if I had to dig a bit deeper to do so. He knew that this would help me better understand and value the perspectives and experiences of the teams I work with. It creates much more value and builds trust along the way. I also share his passion for practicing (and believing deeply in) high levels of communication. Listening actively and communicating transparently and often, helps create a sense of belonging and inspires collaboration – which is critical in large teams. He also said I shouldn’t care as much about what people think of me, as I won’t please everyone. Good advice! (Although I still find it hard to put that into practice). 👓 Read the full profile here: https://lnkd.in/gekk63iY #womeninproperty #leaders #inspiringcareers #shoppingcentres #careeradvice

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we have the privilege of spotlighting the contributions of a few of the remarkable women at O’Hara’s Son Roofing (OSR). In this short interview, we have the honor of speaking with LisaMarie M., a branch manager at OSR. Lisa exemplifies the resilience, expertise, and innovation that women bring to the forefront of a traditionally male-dominated industry. Lisa Martin Service Branch Manager OSR NJ Branch: Serving the North-East Region 1. What led you to a career in roofing? Expanding into an existing family business by utilizing women’s business incentive programs significantly fostered my successful career in the roofing industry as a woman. The roofing field’s allure, technical knowledge, problem-solving, and the opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects, drew me in and sparked my passion for this industry. 2. What have been your barriers and how did you overcome them? Throughout my career in a male-dominated field, I faced barriers such as gender biases, limited networking opportunities, and the need for consistent self-validation. To overcome these challenges, I sought mentorship and support networks, attended industry events to learn from others, and focused on proving my expertise through quality work and building relationships. My resilience, determination, and continuous self-improvement allowed me to gradually gain trust, respect, and success. 3. What woman in history inspires you most and why? Emily Warren Roebling is an inspirational figure for women in male-dominated roles. Despite societal expectations, she oversaw the completion of the Brooklyn Bridge when her husband fell ill. Facing discrimination, she took on the challenge, demonstrating intelligence, determination, and problem-solving skills. Her achievements break barriers, showcase women’s capabilities, and inspire future generations to pursue their passions. Emily’s legacy embodies the power of perseverance and serves as a reminder of the significant contributions women can make in any field, irrespective of societal expectations. Check back next week for the last of the four interviews! #commercialroofing #nwir #nawic #womenshistorymonth #OSR #inspiration

Founder & CEO / Senior Property Buyers Agent at Brady Marcs Buyers Advisory/ REINSW Buyer’s Agent Chapter Representative
As a woman in the real estate industry, this piece resonates profoundly with me. It's encouraging to see successful women sharing their journeys and offering invaluable advice to the next generation of female leaders. The call to be brave, vulnerable, and exceptional in our roles is not just empowering but necessary. Christine Mikhael's emphasis on being a forever student and having the courage to take blind leaps of faith encapsulates the essence of carving a path in this industry. Leanne Pilkington's insight about women often hesitating to seize opportunities until they feel fully prepared hits close to home. It's a sentiment many of us have faced and I agree with her encouragement to take risks, embrace uncertainty and step out of our comfort zones. Lisa Pennell's advice to be the best at what we do really resonates. In a field where gender biases still linger, she shares the importance of finding workplaces that uplift and respect us for our capabilities, regardless of gender. Karuna Mazzocchi emphasises that believing in oneself and not succumbing to imposter syndrome is important. Balancing a career, family and personal responsibilities is a challenge many women face. Still, she reminds us that we are more capable and resilient than we often give ourselves credit for. I loved this article as it provides inspiration and guidance for women navigating the real estate industry. It reaffirms the importance of courage, self-belief, and resilience in our journey toward leadership roles in the real estate industry. #womeninrealestate #buyersagent #bradymarcs #brave
