Waitrose & Partners have introduced a new sandwich range including: 🥪 VLT (vegan BLT) - with plant-based bacon that has the perfect crispy texture and colour 🥪 Pastrami and Emmental - peppery, tangy and punchy! 🥪 Gluten Free Egg Salad - a classic made gluten free The Grocer reports that the food-to-go offer, which will include a main, side and drink for £5, is set to roll into stores from 30 August! Interesting to see a mix of vegan and free-from being included, will this push other retailers to enhance their offering? Jamaican me hungry! 🇯🇲 🍴 A week ago I popped into Turtle Bay Restaurants and noticed they have revamped their menu across both food and drink offerings! They have a range of new dishes including mixed sharing platters & a selection of new cocktails - I tried the delicious Vanilla & Passionfruit mojito! Grace Foods UK have a range of sauces within the operator too, which are a personal hit! I love the Jamaican jerk bbq! With reasonably priced food and 2 for 1 cocktails Turtle bay is offering great value to the consumer! The costs line up with what we see in the data as Lumina Intelligence - Food & Drink’s EDOP data shows average spend sitting at just over £25 for dinner occasions in the past 4 week period! #insight #operator #sauce #food #drink #turtlebay #data

Social Media stars expand their vodka range! Popular UK youtube group the Sidemen released a vodka brand called XIX back in 2021 and it even hit the shelves of major supermarkets such as Morrisons! At their recent charity football match with over 60,000 people filling the London Olympic Stadium (West Ham) they premiered the upcoming RTD Mixed Berry Vodka cans. This has diversified their portfolio from premium 70cl bottles of vodka to an on the go, easy to consume, ready-to-drink! Could we see them competiting with the big players in this market given their immense marketing potential and growing fan base? 1yAs a vegetarian for 38 years, it saddens me to see plant based food trying to have the taste and texture of meat, especially bacon. I became a vegetarian because I didn't like the idea of breeding animals for us to slaughter them for food. There are plenty of tastes and textures out there without the need to replicate the old meaty ones. And (I suspect) the plant based meat-like equivalents will be much more high-processed than natural alternatives. "Plant-Living" Bacon... come on food designers, you can do better than this...
