We’ve even more reasons to celebrate this week, as Waitrose Newark ticks all the boxes to deliver the latest win of the prestigious 'The Grocer 33 award', where mystery shoppers crown the best performing supermarkets. 🛒 With the tally now up to 11 wins for us this year, the shop achieved a bumper score of 85 marks out of 100, with the efforts of our “knowledgeable and helpful” Partners contributing to such a high score. 🙌 We also really performed on the essentials, with an easy-to-navigate layout, clear signage, tidy trolleys and well presented displays leading to a positive shopping experience. Mark Jackson, Branch Manager for Newark thanked Partners for their work to secure the win, as a “fitting tribute and reward for the commitment and shown every day in trying to do the very best for our customers”. 🌱 We’ve expanded our Waitrose Foundation produce range to include herbs - sourcing 13 lines from Kenya with sales reinvested into workers’ livelihoods. 💚 The Foundation is our unique initiative that invests 2% of the retail sales value of products back into our supply chain to benefit growers and their communities. 🌍 When there is less availability from our British suppliers, we’ll source our own-brand Basil, Parsley, Mint, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme from our farm in Kenya - you’ll see the Waitrose Foundation logo on the packets. Last year, the Foundation accrued £2.4m and delivered 254 projects across 10 countries. No sweat! Our farmers go the extra mile to keep pigs cool in summer ☀ Our sows are outdoors all year round, allowing them to express natural behaviours. In the run-up to hot weather our farmers are busy digging wallows for pigs to cool down in as they do not sweat. Wallowing reduces the pigs’ body temperature and the mud even acts as an effective sunscreen 😎 Our farmers also start work earlier so that jobs are completed in the cooler temperatures to eliminate any heat stress to pigs during hotter periods. All their hard work and dedication ensures our pigs are protected come rain or shine! 🐷 #AnimalWelfare #BritishFarming

We're pleased to continue to be a key champion of The Royal Countryside Fund (RCF) who, in 2023, supported more than 860 family farms across the UK 🐄 Last year more than £500,000 was given to 38 projects and community organisations through the RCF, which was set up by HM King Charles III in 2010 with the aim of empowering family farms and rural communities to ensure their future. Waitrose & Partners Portswood, Southampton is celebrating being named The Grocer 33 store of the week this week! 🙌 The store bagged the win thanks to the high-quality service of our Partners, who the mystery shopper described as friendly and approachable. The shopper also commented on how, “you can reliably find an excellent range of plants and flowers, unusual cooking ingredients, and fantastic bottles of wine”. 🌸 Branch Manager Adam said, “We had our annual Partnership week last week and I gave out a 35-year badge and a couple of 20-year badges [to celebrate Partner's long service]. Fundamentally, people have been here a very long time, we have a huge amount of experience and brilliant retailers… and new starters pick it up quickly.” We’re so glad the work of our Partners has been recognised in this way, and are grateful for everything they do, going above and beyond to give our customers the best experience possible. 💚 #DrivenByPurpose #ThePartnerDifference

🎂 Happy Birthday to Moo! This week we celebrated 25 years of farming with our brilliant Waitrose Dairy Farmers led by our new Chairman David Homer, a farmer from Wiltshire and founding member of the group 🎊 We first established the retailer, farmer, processor group to help keep dairy farmers in business by offering stability of a fair price which included a premium for delivering Waitrose high welfare standards, described as 'life changing for British farmers'. From then on, our farmers have helped us achieve the best fresh milk on the market that is entirely free range and only from British farmers. We've led the way on a fair, transparent and more sustainable milk supply chain since 1999 and will continue to strive on innovation, and commitment to providing Waitrose customers with the best milk for the next 25 years and more 🐄 We're incredibly proud of the relationship we have with our farmers and look forward to continuing to see it flourish over the next generations. #DrivenByPurpose
