Did you know that the port of Turku was already known even in the Mediterranean countries in the 12th century? For that we are to thank the Arab Al-Idris who drew the port under the name Abuwa in his map in 1154. This year will therefore be 870 years since the first proven appearance of the port on maps. During the anniversary year, we take a peek into the past with the help of old photos. Let's look back about seventy years, to the 1950s. As the economy regulation eased, the construction of port facilities gained momentum in the early 1950's. At the end of the 1960s there were no more than three and a half kilometres of pier in the port of Turku. As the pier length increased, more cranes were acquired from the mid-1950s on-wards; in the beginning of the 1960s, there were 27 cranes in the port.

🚉 🇮🇹 A major strategic project for #SouthernItaly! The Naples-Bari High-Speed #railway line will allow trains to travel at a maximum speed of 250 km/h, significantly reducing the distances between Apulia, Campania, Lazio, and the rest of central-northern Italy, as well as connecting the country from east to west. After completion, the Naples-Bari route will be covered in 2 hours, compared to the current approximately 4 hours, while the Rome-Bari route will take 3 hours. The project will also promote the interconnection of the Southern railway infrastructure with the Core Corridor “Scandinavia – Mediterranean”, leading to an improvement in the integration of the railway route with facilities dedicated to intermodality and logistics, thus enhancing freight traffic connections between Southern Italy and Northern Europe. #Webuild #sustainablemobility - Read more about the project 👉 https://lnkd.in/dBXnEjhq

There is no longer any doubt that in the summer of 2025 the Šibenik coast will look at least twice as beautiful or almost like a dream. Work on the construction of the maritime and passenger terminal building is proceeding, so far, within the given deadlines and it is almost certain that the work will be finished by the end of this year or by next spring at the latest. In the mentioned building, the needs of passengers will be fulfilled. I am not in a hurry to give a precise answer in terms of who will get the office space in the new building, but it is almost certain that after the construction of the maritime passenger terminal, we will start new investments, which will amount to tens of millions of euros. I believe that, among other things, we will finally solve the problem of the former "Šipad", which has been talked about since the end of the Homeland War - says Paško Dželalija, Director of the Šibenik Port Authority. #PortOfŠibenik #PortOfŠibenikAuthority #MaritimePort #DalmatianMaritimePorts #infrastructureinvestment #NewPassengerTerminal #euprojects

We are proud to have played a key role as Financial Advisor for the concession of Pylos Marina, a project pivotal to modernizing Greece’s maritime and tourism infrastructure. OCTANE's deep expertise in the marina sector and our comprehensive financial advisory services, from pre-transaction market analysis to post-acquisition support, were critical to the success of this concession. Our team coordinated the entire tender process end-to-end, developed detailed financial models, and supported the drafting of all relevant tender and concession documents in collaboration with the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF / ΤΑΙΠΕΔ) and its Legal and Technical Advisors, ensuring a seamless and transparent tender process. With a robust track record in port and marina transactions, including the Lavrion Port Authority and Chios Marina, OCTANE continues to leverage its strategic insight and practical solutions to drive long-term value creation. This project will significantly boost local economic growth, enhance tourism offerings, and strengthen Greece’s position as a top destination for yachting and maritime activities. #OCTANE #FinancialConsulting #StrategicAdvisory #TourismDevelopment #MaritimeInfrastructure #InvestorSupport #MarinaTransactions #EconomicGrowth #MarinaPylou #HRAF

CHANNEL TUNNEL CELEBRATES 30TH ANNIVERSARY The Channel Tunnel has celebrated 30 years since it was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II. The tunnel linking France and the UK was opened on May 6, 1994, and the occasion was marked by the Queen and the French president, François Mitterrand, making the journey between the two countries. To commemorate the anniversary, Getlink and its subsidiary Eurotunnel paid tribute to those who contributed to the success of the project from the outset, as well as those now shaping the future of passenger, freight and energy transport between the UK, France and continental Europe. The 50km-long tunnel includes 37km undersea – the longest underwater segment in the world – 75m below sea level. More than 13,000 people, from both sides of the Channel, were involved in its construction. The tunnel is a high traffic infrastructure, with an average of one train every four minutes, or 400 trains a day at different speeds: 160km/h for the high-speed trains, 140km/h for the LeShuttle shuttles operated by Eurotunnel and 120km/h for the national rail freight trains. During the past 30 years, half a billion rail passengers have travelled through the tunnel. [Breaking News🗞] At the end of last week, The Romanian National Road Infrastructure Company - C.N.A.I.R. S.A. has approved the Multicriteria Analysis – Stage 1 (AMC 1), part of the Feasibility Study for Drobeta Turnu Severin – Domașnea High-Speed Road.🛣 The construction of the high-speed road Drobeta Turnu Severin - Domasnea, with a length of approximately 65 km, will lead to traffic decongestion on DN 6 and will provide a new traffic corridor through the southern area of Romania that will connect the south-eastern part of the country with the western part, respectively the Pan European Corridor IV, currently under construction. At the same time, an easy connection will be created with the bridge over Danube at Calafat.🌉 ”This construction will lead to fast and reliable travel over long distances as well as on commuter relationships, by reducing travel time and increasing average travel speed. It will also improve the road traffic safety conditions and will reduce the vehicle operating costs, minimizing, at the same time, the negative impact on the environment, as well as the negative impact on the population and human settlements. In our analysis we also considered the investment efficiency and sustainability, achieving expected operational results with minimal capital costs and justified maintenance and operating costs.” Alexandru Prodan, Project Manager Egis in Romania. The project is co-financed from Transport Operational Programme (POT) 2021-2027, and in AMC 1 there were identified 4 possible route variants. The next stage of the feasibility study is to be Multicriteria Analysis – Stage 2 (AMC 2). 🚘 #engineering #egis #Romania

It's big shift from the hot arid climate of Western Australia's Pilbara to the cold snowy landscapes of Western Canada's oil sands and LNG region. For whatever differences there may be between the rugged outback and Alberta's big sky country, the culture, behavior and drive at Marcem is right at home here in the innovative Canadian industrial sector. What's struck me most about Marcem's Canadian operations is the laser sharp focus on developing enabling relationships. Marcem's extensive experience in Australia allows us to not just rent tools but leverage established partnerships with many of the people you already know and trust. We buy and supply tools that help you expand your scope or secure new opportunities and connect you with resources to grow your own inventory. Whatever makes sense. That's the key. We have the focus and insight to understand what your goals are and help you get there. We just do it with time and the tools. I want you to show me what you're excited about, what you want to tackle and how you want to enable your people. That always comes first. Then we can talk about how Marcem can help you do it.
