Rowland Hobbs and I had the opportunity to celebrate my 1 year Stake anniversary last night. The past year felt the way most fast growing technology companies feel - so fast my head is spinning and yet slower than I would like. This seems par for the course at a tech company, two wildly competing things happening at once. A few reflections: - Identify ways to make an impact fast, in less than 90 days. Rowland and our co-founder Jimmy Jacobson often say there is a distinct pre and post Natalie at Stake. Making an impact early is key, otherwise what are you doing here? - Make the effort to meet with team members in person. Spending time IRL with all members of the Stake team helped me build relationships quickly. - Get to know your board. We are fortunate to have great board members that provide incredible support and insights, don't wait to tap into that resource. - Even when you think you're moving fast you aren't moving fast enough. Your instincts early on are typically correct, execute faster even if it causes a bit of chop. - Understand the culture and where you are uniquely equipped to make a difference, it will be different at every company. - Two important things make work much more enjoyable - the people you work with and the product you represent. The team at Stake is amazing and it feels great to represent a product that has the data to prove positive impact on property operations. Lower concession costs, lower delinquency, bad debt reduction, increase renewal conversions. The data is there.

Last month, we celebrated our 7-year anniversary. Far from the 7-year itch, we’re actually feeling more grounded and ambitious than ever, and there’s plenty that lies ahead. So, to mark the anniversary, Jennifer Proctor shared 7 of the biggest lessons she’s learned from her time at the helm of Cultivated Entertainment. 1. Don’t Work Hard, Work Harder 2. Have Fun 3. Kindness and Patience Are Invaluable 4. Always Remember Those Who Believe In You 5. Money Isn’t The Only Thing of Value 6. Surround Yourself with People You Can Rely On 7. Don’t Forget to Smile Read the wisdom behind each lesson here!: https://lnkd.in/gga5gei5

President at AlmCrown Delivery | Book an appointment with me to get your final mile Consumer Goods shipped intact and on time, to their final destination.
I’m about to celebrate AlmCrown’s 10 year anniversary. If I could do it all over again, here’s what I would change: 1) I’d secure financing as early as possible. I didn’t get proper financing until my ninth year. Before that, it was the Bank of Jason. Bootstrapping may work for some, but it was tough for me. 2) Don’t be afraid to delegate. This is challenging for me. It often feels like I’m the only one that can get things done. But, ironically, without delegating, things often take longer to get done. 3) Outsource time-consuming, routine work like answering phones. I used to think that if I could do it I shouldn’t pay anyone else. That cost me time and money in the long run. 4) Over communication is better than no communication. It’s important your staff is in the loop at all times. Otherwise, how do you expect them to keep up? 5) Don’t neglect the gym. Physical health is just as important as your business’s financial health. Taking care of myself wasn’t as much of a priority as it should have been when I was trying to get my company off the ground. 6) Don’t assume handshakes are binding. Until something is put in writing and signed, it’s not final. And here’s one thing I would never change: Value the people that made it all possible. Thank you to my amazing staff, including Ariane Siqueira, Taj Maloney, Donna Hames, and many more. Here’s to another 10 years.
