Last Friday, the Women of Cameron group participated in the 2nd Annual YEG WILD (Edmonton Women in Land Development) golf Tournament. This event was a great reminder of what YEG WILD is all about; fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where women in the land development industry can connect, learn and have fun together. It was the perfect end cap to a long and hot week! Cameron Corporation is a proud supporter of YEG Wild. More detail on the program next week: More detail on the luncheon! Thrive Luncheon - Closing the Gap June 6, 2024 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM (EDT) Description Women in the U.S. workforce continue to struggle for equal pay and face challenges advancing in their careers. While women make up nearly half of the workforce, research shows that women continue to earn less than men and struggle for equal representation. “A 20-year-old woman just starting full-time, year-round work stands to lose $407,760 over a 40-year career compared to her male counterpart” (National Women’s Law Center Surprisingly, some of the industries with the largest pay gaps have the greatest share of female workers. Women outnumber men in earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees and are nearly on par in getting medical and legal degrees and still men are more likely than women to get the highest paying leadership roles. The gender pay gap also varies considerably by race and ethnicity, and by other demographics. Join us as the Chamber’s Senior VP of Programs & Initiatives, Celeste Granger, presents an overview of the disparity in pay and leadership opportunities for women in the workforce. Following the presentation, we’ll hear from panelists versed in how we can work to identify the barriers and close the gap. Panelists include: Rachael Georgas, SHRM SCP, Director of Human Resources & Workforce Analytics, Sonepar Kimberly A. Happy #WorldOceanDay 🌊 The Ocean generates 50% of the oxygen we need, absorbs 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions and captures 90% of the excess heat generated by these emissions! 💡What's not to like about #OceanConservation?! Whilst I've always been interested in climate conservation, I was first introduced to the power of our Ocean in tackling climate change, when working with Karen Sack and the incredible team at the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance! In the video below Karen emphasises how a resilient, net zero and economically secure world is not possible without a healthy, regenerating ocean. Earlier this year, at Innovation Zero, the UK's largest net-zero congress, I was thrilled to see a full house at the Ocean and Water Forum! This shows that Ocean conservation is increasingly seen as a benefit rather than a cost. But, the Ocean is in crisis and as Craig Leeson, director of A Plastic Ocean put it, "Because the Ocean connects all of us, this is all of our issue." What excites me most, is the power of storytelling in mobilising action towards Ocean protection. For example, 'A Plastic Ocean' helped change government legislation all over the world! See here - https://lnkd.in/eztfK28a So there's hope. There always is. But, we need to act NOW! Hear from Karen Sack, Executive Director of the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance, on the vital role of women in building coastal and ocean resilience. Cooperatives, along with employee ownership and other 'beyond profit' structures, are at the heart of the Restoration of our corporate world. Imagine even turning the corporate structure of every country into an employee owned co-operative. Now that's some divine thinking! #weareenough #thereisenough #comeontherestoration
“Scotland has a rich tradition of radical women agitating for social change: equal rights, votes for women. But the history is in danger of getting lost” says media co-op’s Vilte Vaitkute. “It’s been a real honour and huge fun for media co-op to collaborate with local women activists, to rescue this inspiring history of the co-op movement, and put it on screen. Being nominated for this award is the icing on the cake. We’re asking everyone we know to watch and vote, vote, vote.” Please vote for our 2-minute film on women's rights and co-operative history https://lnkd.in/eyXfqsM3 Engender Scotland Close the Gap Zero Tolerance Scotland Cooperatives UK Paisley Museum & Art Gallery OneRen SCVO (Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations) National Library of Scotland Scotmid Co-operative Refuge

The first time I would have disagreed with you Adam Danyal. All of this woke, PC- BS is the problem. The fact that ANYONE sees a Gender divided rather than just a human being, based on male, female, bi sexual, black, white, Asian etc is the problem. We are ALL JUST PEOPLE!. The more we create these divides of womens only buisness groups, gymnasiums and the list goes on and on the worse it gets. We will need to have separate public transport if we dont stop it. Women fought, and fought hard for equal rights back in the 60s burning their bras and created real change. Now they are becoming the anitcrist of their own beliefs. I employ based on one criteria, ATTTITUDE - NOT Gender, NOT Race, DEFINITELY not via their degree (congrats you passed a course!) I employ and groom winners and leaders based purley ON THEIR ATTITUDE alone. Before we all go agreeing with all the PC, WOKE BS that's out there. Think of the damage its doing to your own movement. I ran a company with 3500 Labour Hire Companies towards the end of my time there. Even in a male driven, Blue Collar environment, it was the females that were more reliable and the clients asked back all the time. At least 65% of my friends are female, why because they speak less BS and have less bravado and I am considered a hard man due to my past. https://lnkd.in/gTJhZ44y #leadbyexample #stopthewoke #unityonerace #equality

Still talking about our women, how can we ensure their success in agriculture? Women in agriculture play a critical role in feeding their families and communities, yet they often face significant challenges that hinder their potential. Empowering women farmers requires community support. Here's how: Access to Resources: Communities can organize cooperatives and lending schemes to provide women with land, credit, seeds, and tools. Education and Training: Local centers can offer training on sustainable farming practices and business management. Support Networks: Establishing mentorship programs can help women share knowledge and gain confidence. Market Access: Communities can set up local markets and connect women farmers with larger buyers. Advocacy: Collective voices can push for policies that promote gender equality and protect women’s land rights. Empowering women in agriculture is a collective effort. Let’s provide the resources, knowledge, and opportunities they need to thrive. Support local cooperatives, volunteer, advocate for policies, and buy from women farmers. What other way can the community be of help? Let’s know in the comment section. Together, we can build a stronger, more equitable agricultural sector. Be part of the change!

Get ready for some Camp NAWIC spam on your feeds! 😄 It's only a couple of months away. I'd do a Camp NAWIC every week if I could! My generation was often told it's either college or failure. But that's not the whole story, is it? Giving exposure to the construction industry before committing to college is crucial. Success isn't confined to a college degree; it's about defining your own path in life. Non-traditional routes aren't something to fear; they often offer valuable insights...at least for me it did. Camp empowers young girls to explore alternative paths to success and realize there's more than one way to thrive, even if it feels daunting. Interested in sharing your story with them? Sign up ⬇️ to volunteer.
🌟Ready to make a difference? Camp NAWIC is seeking passionate volunteers to join our team and empower young women in the construction industry. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting your journey, your support makes a difference. Sign up to volunteer with Camp NAWIC and inspire the next generation of female leaders! ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/e5nh_Ydv #CampNAWIC #washingtondc #nawic #EmpowerWomen 💪🔧

In case you missed it, we recently joined Oxfam / Prosperity Now for the launch of their new report "Unseen Work, Unmet Needs," focusing on both paid and unpaid labor and shedding light on the often invisible or underappreciated roles women play in the economy. WATCH the recap ⤵
🌟 We're grateful for the meaningful discussions we had last week at our event "Unseen Work, Unmet Needs" with OxFam! Together, we delved into critical issues surrounding women’s paid and unpaid labor in the US and the disproportionate impact on women of color working to make ends meet. Thanks to all who joined us for these insightful conversations! Together, we can build an economy that works for women of color. https://zurl.co/Ofvo

Last week, we had the pleasure of presenting to Cedar Valley Women Connect on creating, achieving, and maintaining balance in our lives. If this is something you struggle with, we invite you to do this exercise: Make a list of your values. (These values are the guiding principles with which we strive to live our lives.) Then, after you list out your values, reflect back on the last week. Where have you said yes to something outside of your values? Being aware of our "yes's" and if they are in alignment with our values or not will give us a clearer picture of where we could be out of balance. The question then becomes - Why am I saying yes to something that doesn't align with my values? And that is where we can grow and learn a lot as leaders and as important members of our families to create a better trajectory forward. - Nick Kuhle & Kayla Becker
Grateful to have been given the opportunity to host our local chapter of Women Lead Change, Cedar Valley Women Connect, this morning. Attendees were joined by Kyla & Nick from Greener Shepherd who presented on creating, achieving, and maintaining balance in our lives, which is a lesson we can all benefit from!
