Every life is precious, and by opening up conversations around suicide prevention, can help save lives. Actions you can take: Check in with friends, family, and colleagues. Share resources – whether it's a helpline, support groups, or professional services, sharing these resources can be lifesaving. You are not alone.

Suicide Prevention Day, also known as World Suicide Prevention Day, is observed annually on September 10. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about suicide prevention, promoting mental health, and reducing the stigma associated with mental illness. Suicide is a major public health challenge, with more than 700,000 deaths each year globally. There are several ways you can help. If you or someone you know is struggling, talking about it can be the first step toward healing. Being there for your friends and family can make a difference. Plus, understanding the signs of mental health struggles can help you support those around you. Learn and share resources that can offer support. Together, we can help to prevent suicide. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of mental health and the steps we can take to prevent suicide. Each year, organizations and communities around the world come together to raise awareness of how we can create a world where fewer people die by suicide. My niece died by suicide at the age of 16. What can we do to prevent suicide? Show your friends and families that they are loved, check in on them, talk openly about mental health. We can all foster an environment where people feel valued and heard, and know that it is ok not to be ok. Look out for one another. Be the difference. 💙💜

It is suicide prevention day and I often see narratives on the internet from organisations and mental health professionals where the onus is on the one who is struggling to “reach out” for help but someone who is neck deep in mental or emotional pain will not always reach out first. If your loved ones or people in your circles have been too quiet, not being themselves lately, be the first one to reach out- a simple hello, a simple conversation which is genuine, where there is space for the person to speak their heart out, a conversation that is filled with love, support and words of comfort/encouragement- can go a long way! Always strive to create this kind of a safe space for your loved ones- today and every day. Be the first to reach out in your communities. To volunteer and contribute towards helping people who are in need. Help uplift the communities where the risk of suicide is high!

Today, 10 September is World Suicide Prevention Day. It is an opportunity to raise awareness of suicide, the steps we can take to prevent it, and help reduce the stigma surrounding it. We know the construction industry is facing a mental health crisis and statistics tell us that people working in the construction industry are four times more likely to take their own lives than other industries. Suicide is preventable, not inevitable. Let’s help each other by: · Encouraging open communication · Creating a more supportive environment · Taking notice if a friend or colleague is acting differently Remember no one has to go through tough times alone. If you or someone you know needs some support, the following helplines are always ready to listen.
