The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a prestigious global finance competition, engaging over 6,000 students from 95 countries and 1000+ universities. Student teams analyze and valuate a publicly traded company to prepare a written report with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation. They also present their findings to a panel of practitioners as judges, simulating a real-world equity research report and presentation. The intense challenge begins on the local level and then progresses to regional competitions. The regional winners advance to the global finals in New York City, where one team emerges as the global champion, demonstrating unparalleled financial acumen. To analyse the data, evaluate the scenarios, and find the ‘right’ one. 20 years in business, the last 8 running my own and supporting others, has taught me one big thing: There is no single right answer. Instead there are always multiple right solutions. Some are better than others for sure. But… We rarely find that out until we do SOMETHING.
