Helping to reduce businesses overall costs and energy usage, Lloyds Bank have made efforts to begin to transition towards a low-carbon sustainable business model while also helping businesses to make a real difference and tackle climate change. Through a 3-step plan, Lloyds Bank aims to be able to give you the tools to be able to make the switch to a more sustainable future. This plan stems from a thorough analysis of over 1,000 UK businesses, predominantly SMEs, revealing the challenges encountered by SMEs embarking on the path to Net Zero. Additionally, it outlines recommendations for key stakeholders pivotal in supporting SMEs through this transition. In response, Lloyds Bank has developed a practical guide for SMEs, complemented by an SME Net Zero Monitor. These resources are designed to support businesses through the 3-step plan: getting started, sustainable transition and the heroes of net zero. We are also delighted to highlight that appointed to the Lloyds Banking Group Black Business Advisory Committee, Karl Oxford has been able to breathe new life into being able to support Black entrepreneurs, with a special emphasis on addressing the unique challenges they face across the North. With his experience in strategic community regeneration, policy design and business development, Karl has been able to use his strengths to build a bond within the Black businesses and communities within the region. Reflecting on an Unforgettable Evening at The Black Wealth Summit Last week, the heart of London witnessed a groundbreaking event at the Natwest Conference Centre, Bishopsgate - The Black Wealth Summit. We are so thrilled to share space with our SBAN network, representing small business advocates from many sectors and industries, and from across the country and internationally. We are asking the hard questions face to face, exchanging our knowledge and experience, having meaningful side conversations, and learning new tools to bring back home. This morning we kicked off the day with a grounding talk from keynote speaker Harold Pettigrew, president and CEO of @oppfinance, who asked us to look back at public investment policies of the past that too narrowly focused on the built environment without acknowledging the need to invest in the human environment. How might our historic Black commercial corridors look today if we had invested in the Black entrepreneurs struggling to stay afloat while expanding our transit and housing options?
