While having a good enterprise system is important, so is having a great business process to go with it. Such as the case when implementing Windchill, a PTC Technology.
No point in having a world class system at your disposal if the business process hasn't changed in the last 20-30+ years right?
If that's the case, why are you still stuck in document centric processes... file based processes that were done around the era of Windows NT 3.51. Now if you are already confused, you might be one of the young people that didn't know what Windows NT was, but your process might pre-date that OS.
This is always the challenge and also why user adoption can be difficult. The business process should be updated to fit the world class system you have.... not the other way around.
All too often I get caught in conversations where we're trying to take the existing process and merge it into the system, instead of updating, redesigning the process to match the system, or at least how we can configure the system for today's data model.
Do you agree, should the process be updated?
Put in the hard work, talk through and update your teams to modernize the process.
