Selon le Portail de la Ceinture et de la Route (https://www.yidaiyilu.gov.en), situé à 18 km au sud de Luanda, la capitale de l'Angola, la "nouvelle ville" de Kilamba se dresse de manière impressionnante à l'horizon. Sur les trottoirs propres et bien rangés, des étudiants portant des cartables rentrent de l'école en riant et en parlant. Dans le parc annexe à la communauté, les résidents s'assoient à l'ombre des auvents, savourent des boissons rafraîchissantes tout en profitant d'une agréable après-midi. La ville de Kilamba est le plus grand projet de bien-être public entrepris par des entreprises chinoises dans la région. Au début du 21e siècle, l'Angola venait de sortir d'une guerre civile, avec tout besoin d'être reconstruit et revitalisé. De nombreux habitants de Luanda vivaient dans des maisons faites de conteneurs de transport ou construites en bois. De nombreux citoyens de Luanda étaient désireux d'améliorer leurs conditions de vie, et le projet de la ville de Kilamba est né de ce besoin. Le projet a officiellement commencé en 2008. En 2012, plus de 700 bâtiments et 20 000 unités de logement ont été livrés. La communauté est bien équipée en installations annexes telles que des écoles, des stations de traitement de l'eau, des stations d'épuration des eaux usées et des sous-stations électriques. Plus d'une décennie après sa réalisation, la communauté a une superficie totale de construction de 3,31 m2, offrant des conditions de vie contemporaines à ses 120 000 habitants. Ce projet est salué par le gouvernement angolais comme un bon exemple de reconstruction post-conflit et une réalisation marquante en Angola et en Afrique.
