Last Friday, the NY team had a blast at our summer gathering! We kicked things off with an exciting trip to Mercer Labs for an immersive, 'ultra sensory' experience that had everyone engaged and laughing. The fun didn’t stop there - we wrapped up the day with a delicious Mediterranean-inspired dinner as part of NY Restaurant Week. It was an afternoon filled with team bonding, shared memories and delicious foods that remind us why our team culture is so special. Here's to more experiences that fuel our passion and strengthen our bond!

From Ambition to Reality: What I learned from Opening Jacuzzi London with Big Mamma UK as Restaurant Manager. I’ve decided to take a moment to reflect on my journey with the opening of Jacuzzi in London. There are skills and experiences that can only be gained in the field, and this project provided a wealth of them. Opening the Jacuzzi restaurant in London was a dream come true, realized through the incredible collective effort of our team. This was Big Mamma Group's most ambitious project in the UK, and I’m immensely proud of what we accomplished together. The journey was filled with challenges and unexpected turns, but our success was built on exceptional coordination across all departments. The process demanded meticulous planning, seamless collaboration, and creative problem-solving. Every detail mattered, and it was our combined dedication that drove us to success. As a manager, leading under pressure, motivating the team, and celebrating milestones were key aspects of this transformative experience. It pushed me to grow and deepened my appreciation for cohesive teamwork. To anyone embarking on a new challenge, here are a few things I learned: 1. Embrace the Challenges: Every obstacle is an opportunity to learn and grow. 2. Prioritise Teamwork: Success is a collective effort; value and leverage each team member's strengths 3. Feel the pressure, but stay strong: Persistence and adaptability are crucial in navigating unexpected turns. 4. Celebrate Milestones: Recognizing and celebrating progress keeps the team motivated and focused. You’ll be amazed at what can be achieved when you work together. 💪

Owner of My RIA Lawyer, Outsourced CCO and General Counsel to SEC registered firms, Securities Attorney, Compliance Nerd, Speaker, Educator, Lip-sync enthusiast
Last week was our Q1 team meeting. And while this could have been a boring or uninspired day, that’s not really how I roll. This year we are focusing on "Unreasonable Hospitality” and inspired by a story from the book, we introduced the hot dog challenge to our team dynamic. The hot dog challenge tells the story of a restaurant owner who went above and beyond, turning a simple desire for a NY hot dog into a memorable dining experience (after it was plated up at an award winning restaurant despite not being on the menu). The hot dog challenge became our way of re-imagining the ordinary. Each team member took turns creating thoughtful and meaningful gifts for others, turning seemingly insignificant moments into something extraordinary. It became an avenue for team bonding, allowing us to understand each other on a deeper level. This initiative not only transformed how we approach compliance but also aligned with our company's core value of joy. We realized that fostering a positive, light-hearted environment is crucial, not just for team morale but also for delivering top-notch service to our clients. As we delve into the intricacies of compliance, we carry this spirit of joy with us. Every task, every meeting, and every interaction are opportunities to infuse delight and align our actions with our vision. Compliance isn't just about rules and regulations; it's about creating a journey filled with joy, teamwork, and exceptional experiences. Have you taken the time to get your team on board with your bigger vision for the year? I did, and I can tell you this is making huge changes to our outlook already. #compliancenerd #unreasonablehospitality

Content shapes Culture. Pop culture, sports culture, and even (well, especially) a corporate culture. The culture of your company is influenced by, and even defined by, the content you deliver to employees. In this episode of Training Simplified we dive into the media team Matt built during his time at Chipotle and how they used Content to help build and shape a dynamic People Culture.

One of our favorite trends at Your 3rd Spot™ Social Dining is the number of job applicants who have visited us as guests, and then decided that they wanted to be part of the team and culture that they experienced. It's hard to imagine a higher compliment. Some of my favorite recurring keywords and excerpts from WHY people chose to apply at Y3S: The team. The energy. The hospitality. Made to feel like family. The environment. The way Y3S aligns with their personal values. Vibrant. Electrifying. Every team member legitimately enjoying themselves. Immaculate vibes. Want to be part of a team that truly cares about the guest experience. The common threads are they felt seen, and they experienced the values of the brand and saw the fulfillment in the team members who were living it. Grateful for the magic and connections created by our team, everyday! Want to improve your recruiting efforts? Take care of your guests. It's much easier to control than crossing your fingers and hoping a stranger applies who doesn't understand what your brand or team is. The people who align with your values already chose you. How do you make them feel?

Meetings with the local restaurant in Södermalm <-> world-leading company Yesterday was one of those days that makes your heart race a little extra, not from stress, but from anticipation. I sat down and put the finishing touches on an offer from our service specialists, aimed at a little gem of a restaurant in Södermalm. The place feels like it's straight out of a French movie, with an atmosphere so genuinely welcoming that you almost expect the wine to pour itself. They're considering expanding their team by between three and ten new employees to handle all the guests expected this coming spring and summer. It doesn't just feel like a business opportunity – it feels genuinely exciting if we get to work with them. Today brings a different kind of excitement 😲🤩. I'm gearing up for a meeting with what feels like a giant opportunity. A world-leading customer service company has somehow caught wind of the journey Simflexity is on. With thousands of employees globally and a presence in more than 20 countries, this isn't just a step up on the ladder – it's like taking an elevator straight to the top floor. It feels surreal, how our 'tech and product-first project' is now attracting attention from a behemoth on the international stage. We'll see what the future holds, but this is definitely something I'll learn from, regardless of the outcome. And amidst this whirlwind of opportunities, I stand humbly feeling grateful for the amazing people who are at the beginning of their careers and who are filled with ambition and positivity. We mostly work with gigs and short-term assignments, but wow, what new, great colleagues I've gained. Their loyalty and commitment exceed all my expectations. Watching them tackle each new job with such enthusiasm and professionalism fills me with both pride and gratitude. 🙏 Living life as an entrepreneur is about constantly balancing between different worlds. One day it's about fine-tuning details in a quote for a charming local restaurant, and the next it's about strategically preparing for meetings that could change everything. It's this contrast, this endless variety of challenges and opportunities, that makes it all so intoxicating. Every day is a new adventure, every conversation opens doors to new worlds. It's a journey that's as unpredictable as it is rewarding. "The Infinite Game" - To sustainably explore, learn, and live

This week, our visit to Ever highlighted the importance of teamwork and creativity in creating memorable experiences. Inspired by our appreciation for the show "The Bear," which featured Ever in the episode "Forks," we were eager to experience it firsthand. In the episode, Richie learns to value the meticulous attention to detail in fine dining. Initially frustrated by tasks like polishing forks, Richie eventually realizes that when working together for a greater purpose, no task is beneath anyone. This lesson resonated throughout our experience. Each team member at Ever brought their unique talents to the table, crafting an exceptional dining experience. The team leader directed the creative process, adjusting to each table's pace and encouraging everyone to perform at their best. They understood the importance of creating unforgettable moments for their guests, turning dishes into works of art that engaged all the senses. Collaboration was paramount. Each individual contributed their expertise to the final creation, demonstrating the power of human creativity. This principle extends beyond the kitchen, enriching workplace culture and driving us towards greater achievements. Our conversations with the team revealed why they have earned two Michelin stars. They exemplified key elements that drive both team effectiveness and well-being: 1️⃣ Leadership: The leader established clear goals and a compelling vision, inspiring all team members. 2️⃣ Agility: The team demonstrated remarkable adaptability, responding swiftly to the dynamic needs of guests. 3️⃣ Trust: Team members had implicit trust in one another, committed to collective success. 4️⃣ Accountability: Clear role definitions ensured that tasks were executed to the highest standard. 5️⃣ Recognition: The leader consistently acknowledged and celebrated all achievements, fostering a culture of appreciation. 6️⃣ Respect: Workspaces were tailored to individual working styles, demonstrating mutual respect. 7️⃣ Learning and Development: The team embraced continuous learning and skill development, staying curious and evolving together. 8️⃣ Creativity: Innovation and experimentation were fundamental, delivering unique and memorable experiences. Our visit to Ever provided a testament to the extraordinary outcomes achievable through a well-coordinated, creative, and collaborative team—an inspiring model for any industry. #EverChicago #thebear #collaboration #hospitality

Hospitality Operations specialist - Bar operations | Training & Development | Creative | Brand Development 1-1 Coaching
It's been a while LinkedIn, and yeesh we been busy. ⚡ After many years of fire fighting in my previous role, I left with a wealth of experience. I was fortunate to have incredible support, development, and opportunities along the way. I helped bring together brands, develop concepts, and create award-winning menus, and we had an amazing time doing it. The best part? The people. The education and experiences I shared over the years, watching individuals grow in confidence, seizing opportunities, and then going on to achieve great things—that's something I'll forever be grateful for. (You know who you are) COVID had a profound impact on me. It pushed me to reconnect with the outdoors, get back into fitness, and realize just how destructive my lifestyle had become. Over time, the business changed. I clung to the best parts of my work while, in reality, it was slowly chipping away at my mental health. I had invested so much in my physical well-being and was using that as an escape. I was living two lives: crafting menus I no longer believed in, holding coaching sessions that felt disconnected. The role no longer served me, and I no longer fit. It wasn’t right or wrong—it was just business. I realized my true purpose was helping people, making a difference. Today, I coach, personal train, and run—a lot. I’m still a strong advocate for mental health. As fast as my new path has taken off (faster than I ever expected), I couldn’t completely step away from the industry that gave me so much. I wanted to empower change. Bar operations and creative development are often lumped together, usually filled by the most experienced individual, until they become the central figure in the business—without clear roles or fair compensation for the work they do. The problem is, they’re often either too operational and not creative enough or vice versa. Most of the time, businesses can’t afford both roles, and the individual becomes overwhelmed, which leads to burnout or being let go. I’ve seen it first-hand through years of delivering redundancies. My goal was to bridge that gap. I want to set businesses up for long-term success by channelling collective knowledge, providing the tools and experience necessary to enable future bar operations and creative teams to thrive. This is about progress and saving bars from losing their best people and creating a more profitable business. This has been a long time coming. I couldn’t be prouder of what we’re building here at Industry Spirit, and whilst I attempt to find balance in both worlds, I’m excited to keep working alongside some of the most amazing and selfless people. If you’re part of a growing hospitality group, bar, or an individual facing challenges—we can help. Between us, we’ve seen it all and, more often than not, done more with less. If we haven’t seen the problem before, we’ll work relentlessly until we find a solution. Follow us, share, and get in touch. Let’s continue to make great things happen. ✨
🎉 Welcome to Industry Spirit! 🎉 We are a small but mighty team of bar operations and creative specialists, bringing together over 25 years of combined experience in delivering excellence across the hospitality industry.
