The Edge Singapore – Here’s what tech leaders hope to see in the Singapore Budget 2024 To ensure economic growth amidst the gloomy forecasts in 2024, it is necessary for enterprises in Singapore to continue to innovate through automation and digitalisation to achieve greater productivity and efficiency. In today’s working environment, the speed and accuracy of every movement matter. New technologies, from the foundational mobile computer to advanced tech like AI or the cloud, must be integrated into current business processes and workflows to optimise their full potential to achieve enhanced production, accuracy and efficiency. Technological investment is also a form of investing in our talents. Having the right talent is key to maintaining resiliency and emerging from the economic downturn stronger, especially with today’s tight labour market. And meeting the needs of the younger tech-savvy workforce is a priority for many enterprises. Introducing the right technologies will help augment, optimise, mobilise and even retain workers, regardless of industry. - Christanto Suryadarma, Zebra Technologies #SINGAPORE #budget2024 #artificialintelligence #AI #talentdevelopment #upskilling #ZebraNation #zebraemployee #zebrapartner Daniel Chan Therese Van Ryne

It's been four months since I've come up to New York to market Singapore's business ecosystem to the US - here are three things I've learned so far: 1) Customers come first - Seeing the surge in #GenAI companies in the US was phenomenal, but everyone is now looking for customers and ways to earn revenue on their products. As a city with one of the highest densities of decision-makers, Singapore is investing in AI technology applications as part of its National AI Strategy 2.0 (https://lnkd.in/dcyqZ6Rp), providing global AI companies a chance to build for purpose. 2) Flight to credibility - As a marketer who attends many industry-leading conferences, especially in areas such as #decarbonization, sometimes it can get easy to be sceptical about the claims and promises made. I am sympathetic to businesses that must distinguish the signal from the noise, especially as they look for sincere opportunities for their technologies to scale and make an impact. I am glad that Singapore takes its credibility very seriously - it promises only what it can deliver and invests resources into effecting its plans (https://lnkd.in/dAQXeQMD). This has resonated well with many US companies. 3) Everything boils down to talent - One thing that's consistently come up is that businesses will go wherever the #talent is. In an economy where ideas shape innovation, and where innovation decides survival, companies resonate with the policy evolutions made in the last few years to enable the building of powerful teams (https://lnkd.in/dfcYFYk8). For US companies, distance can just be a number when you have the right people on board. What do you think - what other trends should I look out for and what else may I have missed?

In an era defined by rapid change, two powerful forces — technological innovation and globalization — are shaping the landscape of business and society. Technological innovation has become the cornerstone of progress, driving unprecedented advancements across industries. Companies like Tesla, with its revolutionary electric vehicles and renewable energy solutions, showcase how innovation can disrupt entire industries. Similarly, Google continues to lead in artificial intelligence and machine learning, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the digital realm. Innovation not only enhances productivity but also disrupts traditional norms, fostering an environment where adaptability is key. The rise of remote work, epitomized by companies like Zoom and Slack, and the integration of AI-driven technologies in healthcare by companies like IBM Watson demonstrate how innovation is reshaping the global landscape. While on the other hand, globalization has redefined the concept of interconnectedness. Countries like Singapore have successfully leveraged globalization, positioning themselves as global business hubs. The city-state's strategic location, coupled with policies that attract international talent and investments, exemplifies how a small nation can become a global economic powerhouse. Giants such as Apple and Samsung exemplify the success of globalization. These companies have seamlessly integrated their supply chains, manufacturing, and marketing efforts across different continents, capitalizing on the strengths of diverse markets. The relationship between technological innovation and globalization should be symbiotic. Companies like Alibaba have not only leveraged technological innovation to revolutionize e-commerce but have also expanded globally, illustrating how innovation accelerates globalization. Countries like Estonia have embraced both technological innovation and globalization, becoming pioneers in digital governance. With a robust e-governance infrastructure and policies that attract foreign investments, Estonia showcases how a nation can thrive by embracing the interconnected nature of the global economy. As professionals, we must recognize the intricate tango between these forces and position ourselves to harness their collective power. The mixture of technological innovation and globalization presents an exciting yet complex landscape for professionals. By embracing these forces, we can not only stay relevant in an ever-evolving world but also contribute to building a future where innovation and globalization work hand in hand for the betterment of society and business. Let's seize the opportunities and navigate this nexus with purpose and agility. #innovation #globalization #futureofwork #leadership #techtrends
