Committed to a radically and unapologetically human-centered approach to HR and internal operations.
Reflecting on one year as the operations director for Asians for Collective Liberation in Spokane! Highlights: 🌟 Established a 30-hr, full time work week to honor our humanity, push back against capitalist productivity, and to allow staff members to be fully present in their communities and with their passions. 🌟 Front-loaded (prorated) vacation and sick time to allow staff to take paid time off when they need it to care for themselves, their families, or just to prioritize time for joy! 🌟 Maintained a remote work policy that does not require any days in the office because our team kicks ass no matter where they work from! 🌟 Working with passionate, smart, and kind people to provide unique and impactful programs to our community. Hard lessons: 📝 Remembering not to take critiques as an attack on my character, which is harder than I anticipated, but I'm getting better at it. 📝 It is better to change my mind than to stick with a bad decision, and the outcome will be worth it. 📝 Working a shorter work week can feel stressful at times and requires careful re-prioritization. We can't do everything, which can be disappointing, but trying to normalize that it's OKAY. We're saying YES to our highest priorities and that helps us be effective and impactful. 📝 Dreaming big within a small-ish budget, whew that's tough! Co-leading this amazing, small non-profit in a more radically progressive way can sometimes feel like I'm kicking back on a unicorn shaped floaty, enjoying calm waters and sunny skies. Other days it can feel like I'm swimming upstream through rapids with jeans on. But every day I am grateful that I get to do this world-building work with a community of people who are loving, inspiring, and encouraging. I am so proud to reimagine Spokane with them.

Speaker, Facilitator, Program Designer | Arts and Justice Leader | Exited Founder of Young New Yorkers (Over 1,400 young people avoided jail and the criminal legal system via the arts)
How can we take the hard stuff and make it sparkle? Every now and again I have an ABSOLUTE ball facilitating Staff Retreats for people who change the world at work. I led the afternoon session of this retreat to an extraordinary group of Alternative-To-Incarceration workers. We had three goals: 1. Synthesis: Intellectually and emotionally process the day's work. It was important to provide a restorative space to consciously process what can, at times, be confronting work around our own relationship to privilege inside our work community. How: Group Mapping Exercise 2. Wisdom: A space to become present to each person's innate wisdom. To bring into deeper awareness the contributions each person uniquely offers the ATI community. How: Wisdom Disc Creation 3. Celebration: Leaving feeling lucky to be part of an amazing mission oriented group of people—and inspired to go back to work! How: Wisdom Gift Exchange! Thank you Dana and Saadiq for making this possible!

What does it really mean to be human at work? We all know that being human means more than just existing—it’s about connection, empathy, and how we show up for each other, especially during life’s most difficult moments. Recently, I lost my grandmother, Patricia Weakley—a remarkable Scottish woman with a big heart, sharp wit, and a talent for making the best jam. She was my best friend, and I miss her dearly. Her passing has reminded me of something fundamental about being human: how we respond to loss and how we support each other through it. Most companies offer bereavement leave, which is a necessary and appreciated benefit. But what often goes unnoticed is how our colleagues and managers respond. We’ve all heard the well-meaning “I’m so sorry for your loss,” but it’s the people who go beyond that—who take a few moments to ask how you’re really doing, who check in after a few days, who offer genuine care and support—that make all the difference. When I lost my grandmother, my manager at CarGurus didn’t hesitate to give me the time I needed. Even offering more time if I felt I needed it. These small acts of compassion reminded me why being human at work matters. In just two months at CarGurus, I’ve already seen how this company values its people, not just as employees, but as human beings. So, next time a coworker is going through something, take that extra 5-10 minutes. Ask how they’re doing. Build a connection. You’ll be surprised at how much of a difference it can make. Enjoy your weekend everyone. #behuman #connections #empathy #culture

Experienced 911 Professional | 911 State Coordinator at Virginia Department of Emergency Management | Driving Innovation in Public Safety Communications
Recently, my husband received news that he will be switching to a different assignment on an opposite shift, a change that will completely shake up our personal lives. In the world of public safety, these unexpected shifts are just part of the territory, and we are determined to make the best of it. Even though we had hoped to have more stability in our careers at this point, we understand that this change is what the organization requires, and we are ready to take on this adventure with grace and determination. *DISCLAIMER* despite not being employed by the same agency, the use of "we" is just like when I want a garden, a skunk, or a new pair of shoes — it's always a collective effort. 😂 The sacrifices in public safety don't just affect the individual, but the whole family too. It truly shows the support and strength that families can muster in the face of challenges. It's about sticking together, adapting to the changes, and finding unity in the midst of all the chaos. As we navigate through this period of adjustment, we hold closely to our values of dedication, resilience, and all the family support we are so blessed to have. These sacrifices, though tough, remind us of the meaningful impact we can have in our roles and the difference we can make in the lives of others. #PublicSafety #Resilience #Sacrifices #Lambo #PageYaLater
