We are thrilled to announce that NGM Consulting is working with The Cuppy Foundation as we unite to champion the education of African students on a global stage. We will proudly be attending the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in support of this vital cause. As many of you know, the path to higher education is an extraordinary accomplishment, yet African students face unique challenges—from intense global competition to significant financial barriers and restrictive travel policies. These hurdles contribute to the staggering reality that less than 6% of international students in the U.S. and U.K. come from Africa. Even after gaining admission to prestigious universities, many African students face unexpected financial hardships, limited scholarships, and restrictive visa regulations, often leading to crippling debt or the heartbreaking decision to abandon their studies. To combat these challenges, The Cuppy Foundation launched The Cuppy Hardship Fund, providing essential financial support to African students in need. This fund is dedicated to helping students overcome financial obstacles, stay on track, and achieve their academic and career dreams. The fund has already made a significant impact at Oxford University and will soon extend its reach to King's College London and New York University. As we embark on this new chapter for The Cuppy Hardship Fund, we invite you to join us, learn more about our mission, and meet some of the incredible students whose lives could be transformed. Your presence and support would greatly contribute to the success and growth of this initiative. Together, we can create lasting change and empower the next generation of African leaders. Let's celebrate this milestone and drive positive impact! #EducationForAll #UNGA #CuppyFoundation #NGMConsulting #AfricanStudents #HigherEducation #GlobalChange #FutureLeaders #SocialImpact #PartnershipsForProgress #SDGs

At the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust, supporting basic education is a key pillar of our work. We partner with several non-profit organisations that help to attract young people to pursue teaching qualifications. One of these organisations is Instill Education. This work is crucial. Despite South Africa’s relatively high public spending on education compared to other middle-income countries, our education system still faces major difficulties. Many South African children do not even attain the basic knowledge they need to succeed in school and beyond. Inadequate teacher training and a shortage of teachers for specific subjects and grades are serious issues, especially since education is key to tackling South Africa’s biggest challenges: poverty, inequality and unemployment. That’s where organisations like Instill Education come in, offering alternative pathways into the teaching profession and using hands-on, work-integrated methods. Intern teachers are fully immersed in partner schools, helping them to navigate often tough distance learning systems and finish their studies quickly. The results speak for themselves – many end up being offered permanent positions at the schools where they do their teaching practice. With current and projected teacher shortages in sub-Saharan Africa, it’s more important than ever to support young people in taking up teaching – a profession often called the “mother of all professions”. This Women’s Month, when we pay tribute to the 20 000 women of all races who marched to the Union Buildings on 9 August 1956 in protest against the extension of pass laws to women of colour, let’s also celebrate the strength and resolve of today’s young women – women like teaching intern Lethabo Mphela a final-year student studying towards a postgraduate certificate in Foundation Phase teaching at Instill Education. In this video, Lethabo encourages other young people to make a difference to the lives of young children by pursuing teaching as a profession: https://lnkd.in/dqNiB2vb #OMT #BasicEducation #WomensMonth #Teaching

Celebrating the African Child: Paving the Way for a Brighter Future Today, we celebrate the African child – a symbol of hope, resilience, and boundless potential. The future of our continent lies in their hands, and it is our duty to ensure they have every opportunity to succeed. To unlock their full potential, we must focus on fostering mindset shifts, building faith, enhancing education, and promoting mentorship. #MindsetShifts: Embracing Possibilities The journey to a prosperous future begins with a change in mindset. We need a different mindset from the one that created our problems. We must teach our children to dream big and believe in their abilities. By cultivating a growth mindset, we empower them to overcome obstacles and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Let us encourage our children to see themselves as capable leaders, innovators, and change-makers. Let's also teach them to see challenges as opportunities rather than things to whine about. #BuildingFaith: Nurturing Inner Strength Faith is the cornerstone of resilience. By instilling a strong sense of faith – in themselves, their communities, and their future – we can help African children navigate life's uncertainties with confidence. Faith fuels perseverance and inspires hope, enabling our children to pursue their dreams with unwavering determination. 📚#Education: The Key to Unlocking Potential Quality education is the foundation of great futures. We must prioritise accessible and inclusive education for every African child. This means not only improving infrastructure and resources but also creating curricula that inspire curiosity and critical thinking. It also means embracing transformative education that teaches our children to identify and solve problems. An educated child is an empowered child, capable of transforming their world. 🤝#Mentorship: Guiding Lights Along the Path Mentorship is vital in shaping the leaders of tomorrow. By connecting children with role models who can provide guidance, support, and inspiration, we help them navigate their paths with greater clarity and purpose. Mentors play a crucial role in nurturing talent, fostering self-confidence, and instilling values that will guide our children throughout their lives. ### A Collective Responsibility Creating greater opportunities for the African child is a collective responsibility. Governments, communities, educators, and individuals must unite in this mission. Let us celebrate the African child not just today, but every day, by committing to actions that empower them to realize their full potential. Together, we can pave the way for a brighter, more prosperous future for our children and our continent. Let us embrace mindset shifts, build faith, enhance education, and promote mentorship, ensuring that every African child has the opportunity to soar.

Neglecting Education: A Cry for Change In a world where education should be celebrated as the cornerstone of progress, it's disheartening to witness its diminishing value in the eyes of society. Take, for instance, the fervor and dedication exhibited by students preparing for mathematics competitions. Hours upon hours spent honing their skills, pushing the boundaries of their intellect, only to find themselves rewarded with mere peanuts upon victory. The issue doesn't lie solely with the organizers of such competitions, often non-governmental organizations striving to foster academic excellence amidst limited resources. Rather, it's a systemic failure exacerbated by the lack of support and sponsorship from corporate bodies and affluent individuals. Instead of channeling their resources towards uplifting educational pursuits, these notable figures often divert their attention and funds towards frivolous entertainment endeavors. While there's nothing inherently wrong with supporting the arts or sports, the neglect of academic achievement in favor of fleeting spectacles speaks volumes about our societal priorities. As a mathematics educator, I've witnessed firsthand the disillusionment that ensues when students, fueled by passion and diligence, emerge victorious only to receive token rewards. It's demoralizing, to say the least, and serves as a stark reminder of the uphill battle we face in motivating the younger generation to excel academically. Consider the case of Tunde Onakoya, whose noble endeavor to break the Guinness World Record with the aim of raising funds for underprivileged children should have been met with overwhelming support. Yet, despite his valiant efforts, the response has been lukewarm at best, leaving him far from his fundraising target even after weeks of tireless campaigning. Where have we gone wrong as a nation? When did the pursuit of knowledge become overshadowed by the allure of instant gratification? How do we expect to foster innovation and progress if we continue to neglect the very foundation upon which they are built? We need to reevaluate our values and prioritize education as the linchpin of societal advancement. We must demand more from our leaders, both in the public and private sectors, holding them accountable for investing in the future of our youth. Only then can we hope to inspire the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers who will shape the destiny of our nation. https://lnkd.in/dWCUtQK9 #parents #parentslife #school #education #educational #educationmatters #teachers #teachersupportteachers #teachersforteachers #teachershelpteachers #teachersinspireteachers #learning #learninganddevelopment #educationfirst #educationispower #parentsupport

International Day of Education: Empowering Futures through Back-to-School Initiative As we commemorate the International Day of Education, Triple A Groupe stands proud in its commitment to transformative change through education, with a special focus on our collaborative initiative, Back-to-School, in partnership with the Ark of Hope Foundation. Education: A Beacon of Hope Education is not merely an avenue for acquiring knowledge; it is a beacon of hope, a powerful force that can break the shackles of poverty, ignorance, and inequality. Today, as we celebrate the International Day for Education, we recognise that education is the cornerstone of progress, empowerment, and societal development. In line with our vision at Triple A Groupe, we believe that every child deserves the right to quality education. The Back-to-School initiative is a testament to our unwavering commitment to ensure that no child is left behind, irrespective of their socio-economic background. We firmly stand by the notion that education is the key to a brighter future, an investment that transcends generations. Challenges Faced by Underprivileged Families: In our pursuit of education for all, we acknowledge the harsh realities faced by families with lower or no income. The financial burden of school fees, uniforms, and supplies often becomes an insurmountable barrier. As we echo the sentiments of a guardian from the slums, we question whether it is truly a "Good Morning" for those who slept without a meal, unable to afford a uniform or school supplies. Importance of Education to Street and Poor Children: Education is not merely a ladder out of poverty; it is a transformative tool that fosters personal development, empowerment, and inclusivity. Our Back-to-School initiative addresses the unique needs of poor and street children, providing them with opportunities to break free from the shackles of their circumstances. As we commemorate the International Day for Education, let us reflect on the profound impact education can have on individuals and communities. Through initiatives like Back-to-School, Triple A Groupe and the Ark of Hope Foundation strive to sow the seeds of change, fostering a society where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute positively to their community. Together, let us celebrate education as a fundamental right, a beacon of hope, and a catalyst for positive transformation. #Internationaldayofeducation #backtoschool #qualityeducationforall

International Day of Education; 24 January 6TH INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EDUCATION (THEME : " LEARNING FOR LASTING PEACE" Napmaac Cameroon joins the World in Celebrating International Day of Education. Back in 2018, the United Nations decided that January 24 would be the International Day of Education. This decision was made by 59 countries who wanted to highlight the importance of education. Since then, every January 24 has been a day to recognize and celebrate the significance of education worldwide. This year, the focus is on "Learning for lasting peace." The idea is that education can transform us, giving us the knowledge and skills to be peacemakers in our communities. The theme emphasizes how education lays the foundation for more peaceful, fair, and sustainable societies. On this International Day of Education, January 24th, the National Association for the Prevention and Mitigation of Atrocities against Children (Napmaac Cameroon) stands with the world in celebrating the power of education to build a more peaceful future. This year's theme, "Learning for Lasting Peace," resonates deeply with our mission. We believe that education is not just about acquiring knowledge and skills, but about fostering critical thinking, empathy, and understanding. These are the cornerstones of a society that rejects violence and embraces tolerance, respect, and human rights. Children, especially those who have experienced atrocities, are particularly vulnerable to the cycle of violence. Providing them with access to quality education is not just a moral imperative, it's a strategic investment in peace and security. Education empowers them to understand their rights, make informed choices, and become agents of positive change in their communities. At Napmaac Cameroon, we work tirelessly to support education initiatives that protect children from violence and promote peace. We advocate for increased investment in education in areas affected by conflict, including programs that address trauma, promote tolerance, and build peace building skills. We also work to ensure that education systems are inclusive and accessible for all children, regardless of their background. On this International Day of Education, let us recommit ourselves to the power of learning for lasting peace. Let us invest in education, protect children from violence, and work together to create a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive in peace and harmony. Here are some ways you can join us: Support organizations like Napmaac Cameroon that work to promote peace education. Speak up for increased funding for education in conflict-affected areas. Volunteer your time or skills to support educational programs in your community. Share this message on social media and spread the word about the importance of education for peace. #internationaldayforeducation #LearningForTheFuture #ProtectOurChildren #educationforpeace

There is evidence abound that education is the foundation for successful individual lives and healthy societies. It is for that reason also that ‘quality education’ (SDG4) is part of the UN’s 17 SDG’s. I have a lifelong appreciation and passion for education. It has enabled my personal and professional development; individual educators have left deep and lasting impacts on me; education is portable, unlike other acquisitions and possessions one might have assembled over one’s life. Education and knowledge are what have enabled millions of migrants throughout history to flee conflict, war, persecution, or destitution to rebuild their lives in their country of adoption. This helps explain why my pro-bono activities as governor of Birkbeck, North London Collegiate School for Girls, as a trustee of the Financial Times Financial Literacy and Inclusion Campaign and our family’s charitable trust are all very much focused on this topic. At Vontobel, we are proud of our commitment to education, as witnessed, for instance, by our investment in the graduate training programme and our support of contemporary photography, all in alignment in the broader sense with SDG4. Today is the ‘International Day of Education’, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development. I invite everyone to mull over this today for a few minutes and think about how education might have enabled them in their lives. #UNinternationaldayofeducation #Birkbeck #NorthLondonCollegiateSchoolforgirls #FTFLIC #UNSDG4

"Advancing Educational Equity|Teach For Nigeria Fellow|'Let Girls Thrive' Ambassador|1 Million Teachers-Black Belt|SDG 1,4&5 Advocate "on a mission to impact 100,000 learners in under-resourced Schools by 2030.
Title: Igniting Change: The Compassionate Revolution for Education Equity In education, Richard Foster's call reverberates: "Education should cultivate not only the mind but also the heart, for a compassionate society begins in the classrooms of today." This truth sparks a transformative approach, weaving social-emotional well-being into broader societal impact. Beyond grades, the shift recognizes emotions' role in learning. Dr. Maya Johnson champions social-emotional well-being as education's vibrant heartbeat. Statistics affirm this shift. A 2021 study by the National Association of School Psychologists shows students with strong social-emotional skills excel academically and exhibit fewer behavioral issues. The link between emotional intelligence and academic success is evident in Dr. Kimberly Carter's research, with CASEL reporting an 11% increase in standardized test scores for students exposed to social-emotional learning programs. Beyond personal success, fostering social-emotional well-being lays the foundation for a compassionate society, reducing crime rates and enhancing community engagement (WEF, 2023). Navigating exams, a clarion call resounds for a holistic approach. Foster's words guide teachers to see beyond scores, fostering a growth mindset. UNESCO's 2023 study emphasizes addressing diverse needs in the mission for education equity. In marking scripts, teachers become architects shaping not just minds but compassionate hearts. Holistic evaluation, as Dr. Maya Johnson asserts, recognizes moments when students display resilience, creativity, and empathy. Teachers inspire confidence, sowing seeds of compassion in classrooms. Join the movement for transformative education—a revolution recognizing the power of cultivating hearts alongside minds, ensuring equity in our educational journey.
