I wholeheartedly agree with Mayor Baker here💡
With Local Government reform firmly off the Government agenda in the short-to-whenever (forever?) term, the ability for the Wellington Region to present a unified and compelling story for growth and investment is unrealistic. The fiefdoms will continue to act in a self serving way because that is what they are constitutionally required to do. You can’t blame them for it 🤷♂️
A ray of light however are the numerous cross-council and stakeholder led processes and initiatives, both formal and in-formal, happening away from the political spotlight. It’s not a substitute for amalgamation, but higher prioritisation of cross-agency working will assist with regional alignment ☑️
I’d contend ‘supercharged collaboration’ is the best option for the Wellington Region in the absence of local government reform 🙂

These are easy (or should be). I challenge you to:
1) Help someone when you see them struggling 💪
2) Take the time to get to know people and ask them how they are doing
3) Volunteer your time 🙋♀️
4) Brainstorm ways you can reduce your impact ♻
5) Brainstorm ways you can increase your impact 🤝
This speech is one of the best I’ve seen.
Making your bed every morning is a truly simple, yet lifechanging habit.

Looks like Gorish Aggarwal is asking me for Employee Happiness tips 😂😂
Here’s my list:
1. Initiate a system to receive employee feedback (so, they can vent their frustration ?)
2. Provide transparency on company/department goals and team performance (to tell why they are working their *** off ?)
3. Formalize upward feedback cadence for managers (so, that they can hold you responsible for your behavior ?)
4. Promote work life balance (or at least internally market that you value that ? 😅)
5. Host regular team events (so that, at least some of them are friends with each other ? )
Add your ideas!
Small business owners particularly believe they are capable of wearing many hats so they can skip HR, thinking they can handle employee stuff themselves. But let's be honest, it's often at the expense of happy employees.
