We believe that transforming the lumber supply chain is going to change the world…and Fast Company agrees! Carbon Smart Wood™ just landed on the 2024 list of World Changing Ideas. Named one of the 6 companies that are transforming materials and the way we use them. By providing a solution to the inefficient use and disposal of fallen trees in U.S. cities, we're setting new sustainability standards for the entire industry. Instead of this wood waste ending up in landfills, we are transforming it into a carbon-negative building material with tons of character that can be used for construction, furniture, decking, and more – building a smarter supply chain and an active way to decarbonize our built environment. Innovation in the Green Building Industry Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) have become a key part of our daily conversations around green building. More companies are now pursuing sustainability initiatives by reducing GHG emissions in their manufacturing processes. HEMP, in particular, has been instrumental in this shift, supporting the triple bottom line across production chains. Currently, the application of hemp-based products in U.S. green building projects is primarily focused on residential use. However, the potential for commercial applications is growing. With this in mind, the industry could see a significant shift towards more sustainable and innovative materials like hemp in the near future. 🌿
