Clean Circles well done to start these discussions! It is important that all stakeholders in the energy sector get to know the potential of Iron as a future energy carrier. The policymaking professionals are in this respect essential to open the full potential of iron power as a complementary energy carrier to hydrogen and electricity in the future energy mix.
Researchers from Rhine-Main Universities and policymaking professionals from the European Commission held two panel discussions on key technologies for the green transition in Brussels. Clean Circles researcher Michèle Knodt presented technologies and solutions for storing energy in iron and releasing it again without emitting CO2. The event was organised by the Erasmus+ ENGAGEgreen project and the Mercator Science-Policy Fellowship-Programme of the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU). The panels included researchers from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya (UVic-UCC) and members of the Representation of the State of Hesse to the EU. Professor Michèle Knodt (Chair of Comparative Politics and European Integration/Technical University Darmstadt) gave a welcome speech on behalf of the RMU and opened the second panel by introducing technologies and solutions to store energy in iron powder as well as producing electricity out of it without emitting CO2, thereby creating clean circles. ℹ Further information: - https://lnkd.in/eQ4Z6sH7? - https://lnkd.in/eeGBZTrM - https://lnkd.in/eKCppgdW 📷 Image Caption: Olaf Bruns, Prof. Tobias Berg (Goethe University), Beatrice Coda (Europan Commission, CEF Energy and Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism, DG Energy), Dr. Cristian Kanovits (Europan Commission, DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs), Prof. Michèle Knodt (TU Darmstadt, Institute for Political Science/Clean Circles) #CleanCircles #BrusselsPanel #GreenTransition #EuropeanCommission #CleanEnergy #IronEnergyStorage #RMU

The Apex Policy Formulating and Advisory body to the Government of Sri Lanka on Science and Technology Matters

A case study of the S&T intuitive review excise of NASTEC has been widely explored by linking the theories on the subject to draw a set of impacts that would have on society, not only in science but also in the public domain. The approach was scrutinized from a bottom-up perspective while considering institutional employees, civil society, and other key stakeholders, including the clients, as grass-roots actors. This work intends to conclude that the success of the policy translation based on the evidence will be successful until and unless the engagement of the grass-roots actors is ensured throughout the value creation chain of the science for policy exercise. https://lnkd.in/gX2sWyBS #SciencePolicy #GlobalSouth #NASTEC #SriLanka

EVENT PROMOTION The call for abstracts to present at the Swedish Development Research Conference 2024 in Lund 21–23 October is now open. This year’s conference theme is “Reaching the Sustainable Development Goals in a polarized world” Conference theme background and objective Growing polarization worldwide impedes our collective pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. War in Ukraine and Gaza, alongside the pandemic fallout, has shifted global power dynamics, diverting attention from international development cooperation. These conflicts, compounded by economic strains and climate challenges, disproportionately affect the Global South. Urgent action is needed, including a green transition, to address these issues. However, this transition risks exploiting vulnerable regions and exacerbating conflicts of interest, particularly in international development cooperation. Swedish research focusing on least developed and lower middle-income countries plays a crucial role in understanding and addressing these challenges. Interdisciplinary approaches can illuminate how conflicts of objectives hinder sustainable development, emphasizing the role of research in advancing Agenda 2030. The DevRes 2024 organizing team especially welcomes research relating to inter- and multidisciplinary projects or approaches, and hope that the conference will gather attendees reflecting the diversity of development research that Sweden is engaged in. Prospective DevRes 2024 participants can contribute to the conference theme by submitting abstracts to three different types of sessions: Research Papers Interactive World Café Impact Stories To find out more about these three types of sessions and what to include in your submission(s)please visit: lucsus.lu.se/devres2024 There you’ll find all the info needed including the abstract submitting form. Abstract submission deadline: May 19

President of the Board at INNOWO, circular economy expert and enthusiast, member of Coordinating Group of European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform,
So many people who think science is ‘too hard to understand’ or ‘boring’ just have not had it explained to them properly or have missed the cool bits. Now more than ever, science communication is becoming increasingly important. The more people understand, the more they will want to engage. Today I am taking part in #training session about #PublicEngagement and #ScienceCommunication. Thank you Joana Pereira for invitation to such important project. The training on #RRI Responsible Research and Innovation, Dissemination and Impact for Science is promoted by the projects #Beside and #Epiboost funded by the #EuropeanUnion.
