President, Poly Tech Talent & Enthos Talent (Global) 🏆 Winner 18th annual RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Award; Top W100 Women Entrepreneurs in Canada
Stopped by a cute candy store near my house last weekend (true story). A little kid was trying to decide between chocolates and gummy bears. The cheerful store clerk noticed the dilemma and offered the kid a small sample of each. Happy with the treats, the child giggled but still seemed undecided. The clerk then made it a game, asking, "Which one makes you do the biggest happy dance?" After a mini dance-off, the child enthusiastically picked the gummies! It was just a simple candy choice. But her joyful approach made that kid’s day, and mine too :) It was such a heartwarming scene, and it really shows something important about hiring: the secret to finding the right people isn't just about what they do; it's how they do it that matters most. That’s because how we do anything is how we do everything. When she graduates from university (we had a little chat) and moves into her professional career, you can bet she'll bring the same energy to whatever she does. She’s not just going to be successful in her job; she’s going to be successful in life. Because that’s just how she is—joyous in every task, no matter how sweet or small. #hiringstrategy ##JobSuccess #CareerDevelopment #PositiveImpact #ServiceExcellence

Vibe > Skills Didn’t get it? Let us explain. Investing in the right candidate is like inviting someone to your party; you wouldn’t invite someone who doesn’t groove with the music, right? So, why do this with the most important resource of your company - People? Imagine you're running a bakery. You need someone to join your team. You have two scenarios: — You find someone with top-notch baking skills. But, they don't share your love for creating delicious treats, and they don't go well with your team's upbeat, collaborative spirit. — You find another candidate who might not have as much experience, but they're passionate about baking, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and fit well with your team members. Which one would you choose? Second right? The company should look for someone who is culturally aligned. You need someone not only skilled but also someone who brings positive energy and teamwork vibes. While hiring someone look for qualities that align with your company's values and mission. A person who shares your passion will go above and beyond to achieve greatness for them and your company as well. Always remember: YOUR PASSION NEEDS A REAL PERSON. #recrutiment #companyculture #hiring #humanresource

**How Baking Cheesecakes is Helping Me Find a Registered Manager for Jasmine Court** It might sound strange, but baking cheesecakes has taught me a lot about recruitment. Just like crafting the perfect cheesecake, finding the right Registered Manager for Jasmine Court (our children’s residential home) requires the right mix of patience, precision, and a little bit of creativity! Here’s what I’ve learned: 🥄 **Patience:** You can’t rush a good cheesecake, just like you can’t rush finding the right leader. It’s about waiting for the perfect candidate who has the right experience and passion for working with children. 🧀 **Precision:** Baking is all about getting the details right. In recruitment, it’s about clearly defining what we need: someone who understands regulations, can lead a team, and—most importantly—can create a safe, nurturing environment for the children. 🎂 **Creativity:** Sometimes, you have to think outside the box. Whether it’s adding a new twist to my cheesecake recipe or exploring different channels to find the best candidates, creativity is key! At Hexagon Care Services, we’re not just filling a role—we’re building a community that supports vulnerable children. So, while I continue perfecting my cheesecakes, I’m also dedicated to finding the perfect person to lead our incredible home. If you know someone who might be the right fit, please get in touch! Or if you want to swap cheesecake recipes, that’s fine too 😊 Visit here for more details: https://lnkd.in/eGCBHgM5. #Recruitment #Leadership #ChildrensHome #RegisteredManager #Cheesecake

Our Hiring Philosophy at Grill Hero! At Grill Hero, we hire people we’d want to have a BBQ with. Why? Because cultural fit matters just as much as skills. Here's why this approach works: 1. Stronger Teams: Our team members share values and work well together. 2. Happier Employees: When you like your colleagues, job satisfaction improves. 3. Better Service: A happy team delivers better customer experiences. 4. Lower Turnover: Employees who fit our culture stay longer. Hiring for culture helps us maintain the positive, high-energy atmosphere that Grill Hero is known for. Next time you’re hiring, ask yourself: "Would I want to have a BBQ with this person and would my customers?" #culture #CompanyCulture #GrillHero

Founder with 3 exits in B2C now actively buying SMBs | I post daily lessons & learnings that are your shortcuts.
I didn't follow any hiring "advice" when I opened Protein Bar. I put a Craigslist ad out on an Easter Sunday at 11pm.... And woke up the next morning to 200 resumes! I hired 14 awesome people. -> Acting students -> Dancing students -> Creative students Many said I was crazy not to hire folks with foodservice experience. But I wanted folks that were performative. After all, we were putting on a show for our guests. There was a lot of theatre in what we were doing behind the counter. I wanted our team to radiate that. So no better place than students who are learning how to do just that being on stage. My strategy worked. First team members told stories every day of how we at Protein Bar were “changing the way people eat in the go.” This hiring philosophy continued for my entire tenure at Protein Bar. And even to this day, I interview for creativity and performance experience. After all - isn’t everything just storytelling? 📷 Me on opening day May 18, 2009 with some of the aforementioned creatives! #founder #ceo #entrepreneur #qsr #creatives #students

What do hiring and cooking have in common? Mise en place is a French culinary phrase which means "putting in place" or "gather". It refers to the setup required before cooking, and is often used in professional kitchens to refer to organizing and arranging the ingredients. I often take examples from other professions and apply them to hiring principals. PREPARATION is as crucial in hiring as ALIGNMENT is to the successful outcome. It's the mise en place of hiring, if you will. In order to run a great hiring process, you need to make sure you understand the business problem you're solving. You need to know the ideal profile, how you'll run the process and what steps you'll take to ensure success. The same thing happens in a restaurant: the ingredients, where are they sourced, how do they make it there, what goes into the dishes, for how long, when, and what's the presentation, the outcome, the review? If you let your mise-en-place run down, get dirty and disorganized, you'll quickly find yourself spinning in place and calling for backup. - Anthony Bourdain In hiring, the same applies. Hiring isn't hard, but most people tend to overcomplicate it. Ps. If you want to learn more about how we help companies and candidates stay ahead of hiring, follow me, Adam Gellert, for more updates on what we are doing and building for the future of work. Thank you to Shawna Stewart for inspiring this post when discussing preparation being crucial in hiring, and that too many cooks in the kitchen can hurt a process if you're not prepared. #hiring #innovation #careers
