A great report published by McKinsey Health Institute and authored by Lucy Perez, Megan Greenfield, Ph.D. and the American Heart Association. It is important to unpack the important drivers behind the gender disparity in how cardio-vascular diseases impacts men and women. Some important stats that deserve attention are listed below: ➡ There is 5 times more research on conditions affecting 19% of men than on those impacting 90% of women. ➡ Women are, on average, diagnosed 4 years later than men ➡ Women wait 29% longer in the ER when they arrive with heart issues  ➡ Women suffering from a cardiac arrest in public are 27 percent less likely to receive CPR ➡ During First Aid training, only male CPR manikins are typically used. ➡ A survey of 56 CPR training centers (n=2383 manikins) in North and Latin America found that only 6% of the manikins used were female manikins It was recently reported that Harvard, MIT students developed female manikins in Feb 2024 to make CPR training more inclusive to women.
