Leave a Legacy ❤️ If, like us, volleyball has been an incredibly positive and valuable part of your life and you’d like to help others who might not have that chance to experience the profound impact that sport can have, then a gift in your Will can continue the Foundation’s efforts and leave a legacy of support to all those that come after you. By deciding to remember us in your Will, you'll help our team be there to support and guide all ages, all abilities, all across England. Why should I leave a gift to the Foundation? If you believe in supporting future generations in volleyball then leaving a gift in your Will to us is a great way to help us do just that. Gifts we receive make a real difference to developing the sport from grassroots right through to performance level. Your gift will always matter. Can I decide how I would like my gift to be used? Gifts that are 'unrestricted' (i.e. that we can use wherever they'll make the biggest difference) are the most valuable to us as they can be used where they're most urgently needed. You can also leave a gift in your Will to a particular area or campaign, please just get in touch. What type of gift can I leave? We're hugely grateful for every gift and there are three main types of gift you can leave: A residuary legacy is a percentage of whatever is left over from an estate after debts, funeral expenses, administration costs, and all other gifts have been paid. This can be any percentage you like. Many people choose this type of gift as it ensures their loved ones are taken care of first. A pecuniary legacy is a fixed sum of money that can be any amount, big or small. A specific legacy is a gift of a particular item, such as property or an item of jewellery. It didn't take long to figure out we had a mindset problem after taking over Framingham lacrosse in 2020. Looking at the results, we turned a team struggling to win 3 or more games for 6+ seasons into a team with 3 straight postseason appearances. We are currently ranked #16 with an opportunity to host a playoff game - something Framingham hasn't done in 10 years. But my mentor Pete Bidstrup reminds me the less we focus on the result, the better we perform, the better the results (sweet irony!). Focus on being present - be aware that emotion is the enemy to performance - shift the focus from being the best to being the best version of yourself. Our entire team wears Coach Bidstrup's Human Reset bracelets - with a little button on it - no matter what is going on we can press the reset button and come back to the present moment. Detachment from the result is the superpower of elite teams... Yes, it is easier said than done! ... but in the end, it all comes down to our mentality... Campaign for Better Transport and Fossil Free Football have teamed up to create a new #PremierLeague trophy which will be ironically awarded to teams for their ‘outstanding contributions to football’s #carbonfootprint’. The Black Boot Trophy aims to raise awareness of the fact that over half of Premiership teams fly to domestic away games and to try and shame them into stopping. Research carried out last year revealed that Premier League clubs took 80% of their journeys by plane. The average journey time was 42 minutes, with the shortest flight just 27 minutes. Domestic flights create 246g of #CO2 per passenger kilometre travelled and cause seven times more emissions than rail travel. Michael Solomon Williams from the transport charity said: ‘Domestic flights are simply bad news for the planet, especially when the same journey could be taken by train or coach. ‘Changing the way we travel is one of the most effective things we can do to reduce #carbonemissions. #Footballclubs should be leading the way and playing a bigger role in our fight against #climatechange.” Peter Crisp from Fossil Free Football said that ‘football relies on a safe climate but is already threatened by more #extremeweather as the world heats up. Top clubs need to show which side they’re on when it comes to #fossilfuel #pollution and that means acknowledging that short haul #flights can’t be part of the game in 2024’. The campaign will encourage teams to start taking relatively small journeys by coach or train and teams taking flights which the organisers deem unnecessary will be presented with a Black Boot. Throughout the season, the worst offenders will be called out on both Black Boot’s  X account and their website, with ‘Player of the Season’, ‘Man of the Match’, and ‘Team of the Month’ awards up for grabs.  Fans are being asked to keep an eye out for players’ and clubs’ social feeds, and let Black Boot know whenever they spot something. 🔻🔻🔻 Click/tap image below to see video on YouTube 🔻🔻🔻
