We at CWA and CES encourage the perspective that a younger generation of planning professionals and students are bringing to the field. This is why we are pleased to share the following American Planning Association blog entry that effectively summarizes the topic via an interview with a professor, recent graduates and current students at the Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning, University of Michigan. Specifically, a course was conceived called "Radical Planning" that was "conceived in the spirit of approaching planning from a community-based, equity-first perspective that strategically challenges the traditional, often top-down system for creating the built environment."
