The Origins of Business Aviation. Embarking on a series of posts unraveling the genesis of business aviation. ✈️ The first aircraft tailored for business aviation purposes emerged in 1938 with Pan American Airways -- it was the Boeing 314. However, using this very year as the definitive birth of business aviation might be misleading since Pan American primarily functioned as a regular commercial airline. Thus, the formal history of business aviation finds its roots in the establishment of the US National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) in 1947. It's crucial to note that this merely marks the official recognition of pre-existing business aviation activities, which previously operated... outside the conventional standards applied to regular airlines. ...Let's now return to the point of the genesis of the first aircraft designed for business aviation requirements. In January 1935, Pan American Airways, a major American airline, requested Boeing to develop a new aircraft with ambitious specifications. Despite a demanding workload, Boeing accepted the challenge, aiming to leverage the insights gained from the development of the XB-15 bomber, a project that ultimately didn't make it into production. PAA's "Clippers" were built for "one-class" luxury air travel. It was a remarkable airplane, one of the largest aircraft of its time, it had the range to cross the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Stay tuned for the new episodes

To address the shortfall, airports are looking to four key areas to improve revenue: attracting new airlines, enhancing the passenger experience by delivering seamless journeys, shorter queuing time and self-service options, boosting non-aeronautical passenger spending at the terminal, and upgrading technology and data to help manage operations. Their discussion looks at some of the challenges that these entail. To read the full article, click on the link in the comments below 👇 #airportoperations #nonaeronauticalrevenue #technology
