How's the joke go? There’s two seasons. Football season and waiting for football season. And that’s not entirely wrong (apologies to baseball, basketball, and hockey fans). Every August we all geek out as National Football League (NFL) comes closer to games being played. People follow news from training camps, watch newly drafted rookies, and follow position battles. Those who are able show up to watch the training camp action live and in person. NFL teams and consumer brands take this infatuation one step further by inviting interested segments to attend a VIP experience. The Seattle Seahawks aren’t the only team in the league which invites groups to training camp, but they are one of the teams which partners with a consumer brand to invite military out for an exclusive experience. Over 100 sailors from the US Navy were invited by USAA to watch practice, interact with players and cheerleaders, and get a first-hand look at what went down — including former TE Jimmy Graham show up dressed and ready to run routes, former WR Doug Baldwin sign autographs, and pop star Ciara taking photos with the VIP guests. Active duty military — the target audience of USAA — was invited by the brand for a memorable experience, complete with a walk-away item like an autograph or a photo. The world needs wrestling. Wrestling is the human experience. Where grappling with opponents mirrors the struggles we face in our daily lives. Through wrestling, individuals learn invaluable lessons in perseverance, resilience, and the art of navigating adversity. Each match becomes a microcosm of the human condition, offering profound lessons in confronting fears, pushing boundaries, and extracting wisdom from triumphs and setbacks alike. Wrestling, therefore, stands as a timeless conduit for mining the depths of our past experiences and transforming them into catalysts for growth and self-discovery. My favorite quote: The "Man in the Arena" quote comes from a speech given by Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, in 1910. Here's the quote: "It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat." Great leaders lift up those around them. Not everyone is used to this, I've had teams initially suspicious of me when I have raised them up and supported their growth - they weren't used to it. I've also had managers who have questioned why I'm promoting the development of my teams 🤯 I'm extremely proud of all the people I have found, mentored and managed over the years. They have continued to blossom and are doing amazing things. Leaders always lift their teams and enable their people to do great things. Poor, middle managers (or want to be managers) who are out of their depth control teams, claim their successes and hold them back from achieving great things. In doing so, they damage the individual, the team and the business. #shame When businesses focus on digital transformations they often forget about people transformations. If you don't have leaders (in title or behaviour) who back people, and most importantly trust each other, you don't have any teams and that's bad for business. #buildingstrongteams #peopleareyourbusiness #growth #ceo #coo #designyourbusiness #digitaltransformation
