Getting employees the wrong holiday gift will make 31% of employees feel worse than getting no gift at all. On the contrary, getting the right gift for employees boosts job satisfaction for 3 months or more for 75% of employees. But what is the right gift? We asked 1,500 employees across 10 industries what they wanted for the holidays. And we learned: 🎁 The vast majority of employees want money, while few want a gift card to a specific retailer, a team dinner, company swag, or artisanal goods like jellies and chocolates. Only 2% of employees ranked company swag as their preferred gift. 💰 Somewhere between $50-$100 will satisfy 67% of employees. Almost a quarter would be satisfied with a gift costing up to $50, while 16% would prefer that the gift run from $501 to $1,000. 🏝️After money, most people want more paid time off. While many people do want the experience of free time, few want a pre-selected experience from their HR department or boss. Experiences like wine tastings, comedy shows, etc., ranked low on the list of gifts people would put in their top five. Ultimately, whether it’s money or more free time, most people want the gift of choice.
