CARRÉ BASSET #IMPACT We are committed to biodiversity with EcoTree France on this World Bees Day. We contribute to global commitments to preserve ecosystems and biodiversity by financing and supporting a pollination project. What does it consist of? For three years, by donating a portion of our profits to this project, we are sponsoring beehives in a French forest, thus actively contributing to the protection of bees, an endangered species in France. Why protect bees? Bees are essential pollinators that contribute to the reproduction of plant species. 80% of human food depends directly on pollinators. However, every year, 30% of bee colonies disappear in France, primarily due to pollution and new predators such as the Asian hornet. #worldbeesday #protectingbees #biodiversity

🌍🐾 The biodiversity crisis threatens ecosystems globally, including South Africa's rich fauna and flora. At the Unlimited Group, we appreciate biodiversity's vital role in sustainable agriculture.🌿🦎 To identify and address risks, we utilized the World Wildlife Fund's Biodiversity Risk Filter tool. This allowed us to pinpoint the most vulnerable areas, to focus our efforts on working with producers to restore biodiversity. We encourage all suppliers and farmers to leverage the BRF for valuable biodiversity insights. The Unlimited Group remains dedicated to conservation projects that protect our natural environments. This World Biodiversity Day, we renew our commitment to responsible stewardship of the biodiversity that sustains us. Biodiversity is the main focus of our reforestation and restoration of degraded land projects 🐝 🌱 By promoting biodiversity through tree planting, other ecosystem services are enhanced such as water infiltration, soil fertility, the presence of local fauna or pollination. This was the case of Setos de Campo Azálvaro, in Segovia, Spain, where they have seen a growth in local fauna in their farm thanks to the planting of 12,000 new trees. This contributed to an increase in the presence of the Common kestrel, a local bird at risk of extinction in the area. Do you also think restoration projects should promote biodiversity? 👇 #biodiversity #regenerativeagriculture #restoration

🌍 International Day for Biodiversity This year's theme, 'Be part of the Plan,' calls on us all to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. Mugie's diverse landscapes—from open savannahs and acacia trees to olive tree forests and the foothills of the Larogi plateau—provide a sanctuary for endangered species like Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, and reticulated giraffes. Our initiatives, such as the Predator Project and the Cheetah and Wild Dog Project, monitor and protect big cats, while our community conservation education programs instill sustainable practices. We've banned single-use plastics, promote wildlife corridors, and employ sustainable beekeeping to protect crops and support local communities. #BiodiversityDay #BePartOfThePlan #Biodiversity #WildlifeProtection #CommunityConservation

🐮 We use cows and ponies to support biodiversity. Here's how: Species rich grasslands, if left ungrazed, usually develop into less biodiverse grasslands, scrub or even woodland depending on soil type and nearby seed source. These are often more common and don’t support the same species of plants and insects. Grazing animals: ➡️ tend to eat the lusher species, giving a competitive edge to finer plants and flowers ➡️ uptake nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus, stopping them from going back into the soil. This means more aggressive plants can’t force out the rare ones which thrive in low nutrient conditions Plus, by using native and rare breeds we’re helping protect domestic animals - not just wild ones! Find out more about conservation grazing on our website. Link in the comments. #ScotClimateWeek

Of the 100 bees species in Ireland, beekeeping only supports a single species - Apis mellifera mellifera commonly known as the Irish honeybee. However, the remains 21 bumblebee species and 78 solitary bee species constitute over 90% of the total Irish bee population. Together, the 100 species are the most effective means of pollination of crops and native flowers. Unfortunately, habitat loss places these precious wild bees at risk, and in turn risks the loss of biodiversity across Ireland. Like DRES Properties, please make an effort to support the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan and create potential wild bee habitats wherever you can. #dresproperties
World Bee Day, celebrated during National Biodiversity Week, reminds us of the critical role pollinators play in our ecosystem. D/RES is proud to be a signatory to the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, actively creating pollinator-friendly habitats at our developments. This commitment translates to flourishing wildflower meadows, planting pollinator-friendly trees, and minimising habitat disruption during construction. Going forward at our Altidore Gardens site, we wish to encourage wild bee populations by creating wild pollinator nesting habitats and bee hotels along the Linear Park, existing native woodlands, and within the newly established wildflower meadows. #dres #worldbeeday #biodiversity #sustainableliving

Did you know that poaching is not just harmful to individual animals, but also has devastating effects on entire ecosystems? From endangering species to disrupting the delicate balance of ecosystems and resulting in loss of biodiversity, poaching has wide-ranging consequences. In addition, it also has a negative economic impact, affecting tourism and local communities that rely on wildlife for their livelihood. By understanding and spreading awareness about the consequences of poaching, we can work towards protecting our precious wildlife and preserving our planet's biodiversity. #StopPoaching #ProtectWildlife #BiodiversityLoss #tembeaafricacollection

In commemoration of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), we at Lumbung Muncul Sejahtera reflect on the profound impact this global agreement has had in safeguarding our planet's precious biodiversity. Enacted in 1973, CITES represents a landmark effort to regulate and monitor the international trade of endangered species, aiming to prevent their exploitation and ensure their survival in their natural habitats. At Lumbung Muncul Sejahtera, we believe that the preservation of biodiversity is not only a moral imperative but also essential for the well-being of our planet and future generations. Through our dedication to CITES and other conservation initiatives, we strive to be stewards of our natural world, advocating for the protection of endangered species and habitats. Together, let's raise awareness, inspire action, and work collaboratively towards a sustainable future where wildlife thrives alongside human communities. #cites #agriculture #animals #plants #flora #fauna #conservation #convention #biodiversity #wildlifeconservation #LumbungMunculSejahtera #CultivatingtheSustainableFuture #sustainablefuture

🌱🇿🇦 Today we are reminded of the incredible richness of plant and animal life that calls South Africa home – and the urgent need to protect it. Our country is a global biodiversity hotspot, boasting over 24,000 plant species, with a staggering 70% found nowhere else on Earth. From the iconic fynbos of the Cape Floristic Region to the succulent wonders of the Karoo, our flora is a priceless natural wonder. Yet, tragically, over 2,700 plant species are stumbling on the brink of extinction due to human activities. One heartbreaking example is the Ocotea bullata, with fewer than 50 mature individuals left in the Eastern Cape. This evergreen giant, valued for its timber, has been driven to the edge of oblivion by habitat loss and unsustainable exploitation. The animal kingdom faces similar perils. The Riverine Rabbit, one of the rarest mammals on the planet, clings to existence with under 300 individuals remaining along the arid riverbeds of the Karoo. Habitat degradation, predation, and drought threaten this delicate species. Urbanisation, agriculture, mining, and other human activities have deeply scarred our natural landscapes, annihilating biodiversity. We cannot afford further losses to our irreplaceable natural world. Let us decisively curb ecological negligence by renewing our commitment to conservation and sustainable practices. Support conservation groups. Make sustainable choices. Lobby leaders for stronger environmental protections, especially as our national elections are approaching. Our biodiversity is more than just plants and animals – it is the web of life that sustains us all. Let us be its diligent guardians, ensuring that future generations can marvel at the wonders of our bushveld, forests, and fynbos just as we have. #BiodiversityDay #PartOfThePlan #ConservationSA #EndangeredSpecies #ProtectNature #ForNature
