#Collaboration is a cornerstone to turn our stepping stones into milestones. We researched together to unleash interesting applications in the intersection of #textiles, #healthcare and #pollution control. Our collaborative #research article: 'Enhancing Sorption Properties of Natural Fibrous Protein Substrates. Part I: Absorption of malodorous gases,' was published in the Textile Journal, Vol. 121, No. 6, p48-50, November - December, 2004. Reprint. Cross-Functional Collaborative Research Team Members: Masuhiro Tsukada, Hiroshi Kotah, Shafiul Islam and Nobutami Kasai. Following this research publication, a company in Japan contacted me for 200 copies reprints of our research article. I passed this business to the Editor-in-Chief, of the Textile Journal, CTT Group. Did you know? ♣ "Globally, fashion and textiles is a $2.6 trillion industry employing 430 million people." ♣ "The textile industry is responsible for an estimated 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions and creates around 100 million tonnes of waste a year." ♣ "The greatest challenges facing the industry are its environmental impacts." ♥♪♥ Explore and enjoy how our collaborative research and innovative initiatives have been striving for new #knowledge creations and global innovation horizons: 🕸️ Google Scholar Citations: https://lnkd.in/ghXrTPjr 🕸️ ResearchGate Network: https://lnkd.in/gYZtH9Q8 🕸️ Vision Creates Vlaue Blog: https://lnkd.in/gV3RtcGQ 🌷🦋🌷 "I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. #Imagination is more important than knowledge. Two years ago, I had the honor of presenting my Master’s thesis at the first edition of Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Lisboa Fashion and Sustainability Conference. It was a pleasure to return this year, to share the beginnings of my PhD research. How can the textile and clothing industry significantly reduce its overall negative environmental impact? And how can it better support the communities within its value chain? 💡 To explore these questions, I presented several pathways inspired by some of the most relevant post-growth theories currently shaping academic discussions. There were three main takeaways: ⤵️ We must set limits on both production and consumption volumes. Technological innovations alone cannot mitigate the negative impacts of the fashion system. 📈We need new indicators (beyond economic growth) to assess the industry's performance - which we can draw from the environmental and social dimensions of sustainable development. 🤝 More than transforming individual businesses, it's time for systemic, structural change. For achieving this, we need strong policy action.
