Three years in the Netherlands, and now, back to Portugal. In the spirit of the Golden Globes 🏆, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this journey and acknowledge some incredible people who made a real difference in my professional life during this transition. Deciding to move back home was (not only) about packing five big suitcases - it involved preparation, strategy, and plenty of resilience to navigate today’s challenging job market. It’s no secret that job hunting can be tough, but having people who genuinely take the time to offer insights about the HR market in Portugal, provide thoughtful feedback, or even connect you with key professionals is invaluable. So, as I prepare to start my new chapter in February 🎉, I want to give a shoutout to those who left their mark during this phase: Duarte R., Gonçalo Sequeira 🚀, Ana Rita dos Santos, Joana Carvalho, Miguel Teixeira, Sara Baía (She/Her), Carlos Correia. If you’re navigating the HR world in Portugal, I strongly recommend connecting with them. Their empathetic advice and support reminded me of the power of a strong professional network. Here’s to new beginnings and the people who help us get there! 👏

Fastest hiring process I witnessed, ever, in my life. When a recruiter needs a employee to fill the spot, he hires him /her. I submitted a resume on monday. The engineer (mechanic) took the interview the following wednesday morning, took the plane this thursday morning from Toronto to Montreal, had medical exam at 1pm and started working as an extra on the ship in the evening by the time he gets Transport Canada endorsement. NO BS. 1 job opening, 1 candidate and the job starts. See? It's that simple. That's efficient recruitment. #humanresources #crewing #crewingofficer #crewingmanagers #ships #boats #captains #engineer #hr #hiring #candidates

Our very first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) employee group started its work this week. The group aims to guide and support Finnair’s journey as a diverse workplace. We selected a diverse mix of team members from different employee groups to make sure every voice is heard. “We are a diverse community and want every employee to feel valued and respected as an individual,” says Tanja Kuronen-Mattila, Talend lead and one of the group’s facilitators. In the group's first meeting, one topic discussed was how to emphasise the international nature of our work community even more. Did you know that our Finnair team is made up of over 60 nationalities and languages, different genders, ages, and backgrounds? “Aviation is a truly global industry, and it's inspiring to now see such a wealth of international talent at Finnair. Together we have this unique opportunity to learn from one another and share perspectives”, says one of the participants, Katrin Underwood, who works as a Senior Manager of Airline Partnerships.

Dear network, This is not an easy post for me! My health situation having a chronic disease has changed my life. It has resulted in the fact that I over time have been forced to say goodbye to my initiated position within #Maersk - a situation that has been extremely difficult to accept. Obviously not my ideal dream scenario and I would lie if I denied not missing my intended role and responsibilities. Nevertheless, I have decided that I will get the best out of my situation, and I will continue the battle to improve my health. The positive side, among others, is that Maersk, as an employer has really stepped up and build a flexible structure & work life balance for me as an employee. This means that I have been re-organized to another role in Maersk, where the right tasks, hours and responsibilities matches my new situation. Furthermore, it leaves me room for important values in life besides my work life. I am super grateful being a part of an responsible organization that creates individual, flexible and frames the right conditions for me as an employee. #Maersk has really taken ownership, dedication, understanding and taking a social responsibility in any way. I am grateful for having so many great colleagues surrounding me despite I am primarily working offsite. I am humbled, proud, and full of appreciation, continuing being a part of the great #Maersk family. A special thanks to the following people; Stig Kirkegaard Anders Haagen R. Christina Thiel Vestergaard & Morten Kildegaard. I am NOT making this post with the intention of accomplishing any attention on me as a person, but more and only as information to my professional network and even more important encouraging the following: REMEMBER value your life and all the little things & imperfections in it!! #Diverse abilities #Maersk 👊. A.P. Moller - Maersk

Sustainability spotlight: A collaborative effort for community well-being! Horizon Auto Logistics in Mexico took a significant step in strengthening its community engagement by launching a comprehensive program of activities. This initiative was the result of a collaborative effort to understand and address the specific needs of the Mataloma community. In just one day, 21 volunteer employees conducted surveys with 107 residents, gathering valuable insights directly from the community. Key priorities identified included physical activity sessions, recreational opportunities, cognitive exercises, health campaigns, reforestation projects, and job fairs. To ensure the program's relevance and impact, the volunteers developed a detailed proposal based on these findings. The launch was promoted widely through social media, park notices, and neighborhood announcements. Implementing the program involved not only Horizon employees but also local social groups and government representatives, fostering a multi-stakeholder approach that facilitated execution, built trust, and encouraged collaboration. The activities were designed to be diverse andinclusive, addressing a wide range of community interests and needs. Recognizing the importance of nurturing strong relationships, Horizon plans to sustain and expand these initiatives across other locations, understanding that its success is closely tied to the well-being of the communities it serves. #sustainablefuture #thenewhorizon #syn3rgy360 #automotive #automotivelogistics
