Everyone paying attention to the Torrey Pines, UTC, and Sorrento landscapes knows there is a lot of construction underway. Several developments by ARE, Sterling Bay, Longfellow, and others deliver in 2024 – 2025. The effects this will have on the life science community will be interesting, driving clear market saturation. It should pave the way for more tenant improvements to optimize the tenant experience and maximize the value of their operational goals. The big question is, will the developers continue to add to their pipeline over the short term?

The Golden Gate Bridge stands as a testament to human ingenuity and engineering achievements. Completed in 1937, the iconic suspension bridge spans 1.7 miles across the Golden Gate Strait, connecting San Francisco to Marin County. The bridge was designed to withstand strong winds, ocean currents, and earthquakes, making it a remarkable feat of engineering. The project was led by chief engineer Joseph Strauss and his team, who employed innovative techniques and engineering marvels of the time. Here are some key aspects of the bridge's amazing construction: 1. Design: The bridge was designed as a suspension bridge, with two main towers and a main span suspended by steel cables. 2. Materials: The bridge's main structure is made of steel, with over 83,000 tons of it used in its construction. 3. Safety Measures: Given the challenging environmental conditions, safety was a top priority during construction. Workers were equipped with safety nets, which saved the lives of 19 individuals who fell during construction. 4. Construction Techniques: Engineers used a combination of traditional and innovative construction techniques, including floating derricks to assemble the towers and a unique movable scaffolding system to paint the bridge. 5. Paint Color: The iconic orange-red color of the bridge, known as "International Orange," was chosen to enhance visibility in foggy conditions and to complement the natural surroundings. 6. Completion Time: Despite the challenges posed by the treacherous waters and strong winds, the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge was completed in just over four years, which was considered an impressive feat at the time. The Golden Gate Bridge remains an architectural marvel and a symbol of San Francisco's identity, continuing to attract millions of visitors each year. #goldengatebridge #sanfrancisco #civilengineering #civilconstruction #bridgeengineering #structuralengineering #iconicdesign #safetyfirst #steelstructures #environment #resilience

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, holds profound significance for Corenic Construction as an African American owned construction company. It commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. This day symbolizes liberation, resilience, and the ongoing struggle for equality. For Corenic Construction, Juneteenth is a reminder of the contributions and achievements of African Americans in building and shaping the nation, often in the face of systemic barriers. It serves as an opportunity to honor the legacy of African American builders and tradespeople who paved the way, acknowledging both the progress made and the challenges that remain. Embracing Juneteenth within the company culture can involve recognizing the historical context, celebrating African American heritage, and committing to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. This might include educational programs, community service, and fostering a supportive environment that uplifts African American employees and partners. Ultimately, Juneteenth for Corenic Construction is a day to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and work towards a future where equality and opportunity are accessible to all.

Located near the existing Piper Shores Oceanside campus on Spurwink Road in Scarborough, The Meadows is a groundbreaking residential community unlike any other in Maine. This exceptional project features three unique residential components: ➡ The Pocket Neighborhood: Featuring sixteen duplex units with all vehicle traffic restricted to the perimeter. Each unit fronts onto beautiful green “pocket parks.” ➡ The Hybrid Commons Building: A vibrant hub with a neighborhood clubhouse, restaurant, theatre, and twenty-eight apartment units. ➡ The Estate Neighborhood: Comprising eight luxurious single-family estate units. At the heart of The Meadows lies a stunning central Meadow, complete with a large stormwater pond featuring a permanent water level and an aerator fountain jet. The perimeter is lined with mature forest stands, providing a natural buffer to adjacent single-family homes. Additionally, twelve acres at the rear of the site will be permanently preserved and conveyed to the Town as a conservation easement, featuring an extensive recreation trail network. Sebago Technics is proud to have provided comprehensive land survey, landscape architecture, wetland delineation, 3D visualization modeling, and civil/traffic engineering services for this remarkable project. Permits were secured from the Town of Scarborough, Maine Department of Environmental Protection, and the US Army Corps of Engineers. https://lnkd.in/drTMieTr
