When a customer asks you “What’s new?” 😆 🆕 Did you know? On average 200 brand-new fragrance creations are sold at Carvansons every month and in October we had one of our biggest months for new fragrances created and sold with over 370 brand-new fragrance creations leaving our factory. 🧴 🚚 🏵️ Unsurprisingly there is a distinct Christmas flavour to many of the scents that we have sold lately. But there have also been quite a number of delicate #skincare related fragrances. We regularly review what we are selling. This information helps inform some of the future collections, creations and selections we are able to make. Just to back that up, here is a recent comment we received from a customer. “We’ve been using your exceptional fragrance oils in our formulas and are impressed with the quality. We’d love your support on our new product line.” Our response; 😁 “I’m sure we can find some NEW fragrances that will be perfect for you!! #FrequentlyAskedFriday #WhatsNew #New #BrandNew

What is Perfume Layering? Perfume layering has been a big buzz phrase of late and there are hundreds of videos of TikTok or #perfumeTok all talking about how to layer fragrances. So we thought we’d take a look and offer up our opinion on this trend. So, What is perfume layering? Perfume layering is a fun and creative way to personalise your fragrance and make it truly unique to you. The process involves blending usually 2 or 3 three scents together to create something that is more unique to you. This layering trend is all about creating something unique. But doing this in a way where you don’t smell like you have just had a head-on collision with a fragrance counter isn’t quite as simple as people make out. Understanding Perfume Notes So most people will understand top, middle and base notes to be the fragrance notes you can smell at the start or opening of the scent, the middle being the notes that emerge after the top notes fade away and finally the base notes which are more often than not the deep, rich scents that linger on your skin long after the perfume has been applied. Understanding how these notes interact with one another is key to creating a harmonious scent profile and is key to understanding fragrance layering. Choosing Complementary Scents When it comes to perfume layering, the key is to choose scents that work well together. Mixing floral, fruity, woody and spicy notes can create a complex and intriguing fragrance that is truly one-of-a-kind. Experimenting with different combinations can help to find the perfect balance that resonates with your personal style. Here’s a mini guide to complementary fragrances. September's Launches we Love - Bianco Latte Bianco Latte is a fragrance that has captured the hearts and senses of many. With its smooth, creamy and comforting profile, this perfume has become a modern favourite, embodying the elegance of milky notes like never before. An October 2023 review of Bianco Latte by Giardini di Toscana from Canadian perfume TikToker @perfumerism clocked more than 11 million views and put the Italian fragrance at the forefront of a trend for milky perfumes. Niche fragrance retailer Luckyscent calls Bianco Latte the viral hit of 2023 and 2024 — it remains on backorder after having sold thousands of bottles and spurred a trend for other gourmand perfumes. Milky notes are on the rise, bringing a sense of nostalgia, warmth, and coziness that resonates deeply with consumers seeking both indulgence and comfort. These notes offer a unique twist, balancing between gourmand and soft floral elements, allowing for a versatile, inviting scent experience. Bianco Latte’s blend of velvety cream, warm musk, and soft woods has set the perfect tone for this new olfactory trend. Interested in learning more about the trend in #MilkyScents? As we leave summer behind us, crisp fresh autumnal and winter morning approach. And with that so do the natural autumnal and winter scents that are all around us. Today’s post was inspired by the earthy, dewy and fresh mornings that greeted us in Autumn here in #Lancashire. The earth after rain, mist, and the green vitality of nature waking up. These fragrances evoke a sense of nature, mindfulness, and grounding. Here are just a few of the earthy fragrance notes that could inspire a "dewy morning" scent: Earthy Fragrance Notes 1. Petrichor: The quintessential smell of rain hitting dry earth. It’s a nostalgic, grounding scent that is increasingly popular for those seeking natural, atmospheric perfumes. 2. Vetiver: Deep, smoky, and grassy, vetiver brings a sense of calm and earthiness. It has been a longtime favourite in earthy fragrances, blending well with other woodsy or green notes. 3. Moss: Often associated with damp forest floors, moss imparts a soft, slightly musty, green aroma that feels very rooted in nature. It adds depth and texture to a scent. 4. Oakmoss: A classic in perfumery, oakmoss has a rich, earthy, and slightly leathery smell. It’s commonly used in chypre fragrances and is known for evoking forest-like surroundings. 5. Wet Woods: Capturing the scent of freshly cut wood or wood after a light rain, this note brings a sense of natural freshness, grounding, and calm. 6. Mushroom/Mycelium: This is a more niche note that brings a unique damp, woody, and rich earthiness reminiscent of forest floors. Who likes an earthy fragrance? #earthy #woods #nature #autumn

It's been over a week since we posted about our latest Annual Trends ebook being launched and we’ve already had lots of interest in downloading the ebook and requesting the samples associated to this. How important are fragrance trends? To understand this we need to take a deeper dive into customer buying habits. 1 Keeping the final product in mind So although we at Carvansons don’t make a final product that will be seen on the shelves of a shop or estore, it is still vital we keep in mind what a fragrance will ultimately be used for. And although our Trends presentation may not be application-specific, the trends are led by wide-ranging market research across different sectors to ensure there is something in them for every market, every budget and every customer. 2 Demographics That brings us nicely on to the next subject, knowing the customer. We do lots of research at Carvansons into our customers customer. No that wasn’t a typo. We often create fragrances for contract manufacturers and as a result, we often need to provide advice on what we think their customers will want. Tricky huh! In order to understand what fragrances are likely to become big, we work with our customers to understand their target market, age, genders, location etc. so we can help advise on the best scents for them. We take all of this into consideration when we release our Trend Presentations. 3 Right Place Right time Many of the fragrances we create for customers are heavily influenced by seasonal trends. As a result, updating and providing limited edition runs of fragrances are a great way for our customers to generate excitement and new sales. Our Trend Presentation samples allow our customers to create products that resonate with the customers at the right moment. It also allows customers to conduct their own market research and consumer testing panels. Interested in taking a look at our Fragrance Trends, click the link in the comments.

Last week we delivered a fantastic educational perfumery session to some of our customers in Poland. The session took a quick tour through fragrance triangles, perfumery materials and the history of perfume creation, concluding with an opportunity for the delegates to try their hand at being a perfumer for the day. Here's what they had to say about the session; "What a great experience. This session expanded my knowledge of fragrance creation." "This workshop helped me to understand the specifics of fragrance creation." "I was able to learn about the basics and history of perfume." "This session will help me better select fragrances for cosmetics in the future." "The workshop was full of new information and professionally organised." #perfumery #learning #education #perfume #fragrance #poland

LAUNCHES WE LOVE Here's our monthly look at one of the latest fragrance launches and at why our perfumery experts like them. This month Ame Du Coeur from Les Liquides Imaginaires. We thought we'd go a little bit more niche this month with a lesser-known fragrance, but still one that packs an absolute punch. This is an Oriental Spicy fragrance launched earlier in 2024. Ame Du Coeur captures the essence of passion and depth. Perfect for those who seek a fragrance as unique and captivating as they are. "Âme du Coeur is love, the soul of the heart. Precious as a ruby, explosive as a bomb, and bold as spice. Its light is your inner heart." From Jovoy Paris website. We love how these niche and more unusual fragrances are making their way into the mainstream. Fragrance Notes: Mandarin, Blood Orange, Grapefruit, Ginger, Pink Pepper, Black Pepper, Cardamom, Cypress, ElemiCocoa, Guaiac, Pomarose*Tonka Beans, Vanillin, Vetiver, Cedarwood, Akigalawood.
