A wonderful piece on the false dichotomy between trust and results by my dear colleague and Co-Impact’s Director of Learning, Measurement, and Evaluation, Varja Lipovsek.   “What such organizations need most is funders who will support them to excel in both strategy and measurement without imposing the funder’s view of what matters. 💪 In 2022, women made up a slight majority (50.75%) of employees at First Time Funds in Chicago. 🔥 Additionally, First Time Funds had greater representation of Black/African American (29.85%) and Asian (13.43%) employees in 2021 compared to all funds. 🙏 To us, this demonstrates that emerging managers are playing a key role in expanding #DEI across #VC. 🧐 So, how can we support our emerging managers so we can continue to expand diversity across VC? Systems thinking helps us embrace the complexity of social issues and their causes. Causal loop mapping is a participatory tool and exercise that helps groups understand causal relationships in a system and- critically- identify the most important and influential leverage points within those systems that will make an impact at the systems-level. I just attended an ECDAN Systems Thinking Masterclass session on creating causal loop maps and identifying leverage points in the ecosystem that will create systemic change. https://lnkd.in/e9ypGXRF They did a fantastic job presenting the tools and their application in the Early Childhood Education ecosystem. Overall, there are 14 90-minute deep-dive presentations in this Masterclass series on a particular systems thinking framework, method, tool, or approach which will cover what it is, how it is used, opportunities and challenges, and practical examples of utilization in the field of early childhood education.
