Community Services Director, Library, Arts, Parks and Recreation

We're on the hunt for a Children's Librarian who can bring the perfect mix of joy and literary learning to our library. As the Master of Mayhem & Mischief, you'll be the maestro of giggles, the curator of chaos, and the chief instigator of imagination. Key Responsibilities: Storytelling Shenanigans: Spin tales so enthralling that even the shyest of children will join in the storytelling antics. Bookish Buffoonery: Organize book-themed treasure hunts, scavenger hunts, and quirky reading challenges to get kids turning those pages. Mad Science and Wacky Workshops: Turn the library into a laboratory of wonder, where kids can experiment and learn through hands-on, occasionally explosive (in a safe way, of course) activities. Crazy Costume Crusader: Show up to work in costumes ranging from pirates to aliens, from wizards to talking animals, all in the name of bringing literature to life. Artistic Anarchy: Encourage creative chaos with art projects that result in glitter being everywhere (we mean everywhere). Secret-Keeping Superhero: Listen to the wild and wonderful stories kids bring to you and offer the perfect book recommendations. Qualifications: A degree in Library Science or a related field, or the ability to make balloon animals. A penchant for silliness and a natural ability to communicate with children while pretending to be a pirate. Strong organizational skills for planning the best messy, creative, and chaotic events. A good sense of humor and an exceptional tolerance for playdough on the floor. Why Join Us? Laughter Is Required: Be part of an environment where giggles and guffaws are considered essential elements of the job. Infinite Inspiration: Children have boundless imaginations, and you'll get to be a part of their adventures. Endless Craft Supplies: Access to an extensive collection of glitter, googly eyes, and craft materials (use responsibly). Flexible Work Attire: We won't judge if you show up to work as a pirate or a dragon, as long as you're on time and bring your love for children's books. How to apply:

Please get in contact North Carolina Central University in Durham,NC. they just had their fall 2023 graduation on Sat. and perhaps some of the School Library and Public Library graduates will be willing to talk to you about this. Also get in contact with the School of Education there as well. Some of the Master degree students in Early childhood and NCPreK along with Elementary Education may be interested as well. I can vouch for the good qualities of both programs since I am an alumnus. We turn out winners!
